Some odd movies thoughts

So, I got my all-time favorite movie as an early Christmas gift. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. I watched it with Grandmum tonight and finally realized why I love Gay Perry so much.

So, in KKBB, we're introduced to Perry as gay. That's part of the name and, two seconds of Downey Jr.'s rambling exposition later, its confirmed to be a very fitting name as Perry is indeed queer.

But, after the opening jokes about this, there's a shift in the focus on the character. While some remarks are made throughout the film, Perry becomes someone else. He's not The Gay One, he's The Competent One or The Antihero Guy. I love that to pieces and this is one of the only movies I can think of in which a gay character's sexuality is not central to the plot. I like that a lot.

Also, the movie is funny and weird and clever and, visually, very pretty to watch. It has this whole theme of the dangers of mixing fiction and reality that's really nice. I highly recommend it. It's in my top five favorite movies, along with Stranger Than Fiction, Tarantino films, and other weird stuff.

I love KKBB! And I never thought of it before, but that really is true about Perry, and that's kind of awesome. Win! I really should watch it again.
