Sneaky, sneaky, Mr. Obama.

Telling his supporters to vote early, I mean. I take that as "so you can't change your mind later," personally. Anyone else get that vibe?

No, it's to capture on the energy of the rally. People are more likely to vote when they are fired up, and primaries are usually lower turnout than the general election. Also, TX does a wacky voting plus a caucus - so each Dem candidate needs their supporters to do both.

...

If they do a primary and a caucus, which one determines candidates?

Ugh. It's totally fucked up. Leave it to Texas to be retarded.

How I understand it is, a percentage of the pledged delegates will be allocated based on the actual vote. The rest will be allocated based on the caucus. So, if a candidate gets someone to vote early, they've got half of the thing covered, even if the voter forgets to go to the polls/caucus on March 4th.

It's completely stupid.

ETA: Oh, yeah, and to make it MORE complicated, both allocations are proportional.

Geez, wicked complicated.

Whoever thought to respond to his plea to attend the caucus with "YES WE CAN" was a genius.
