google has totally failed me on this one, I am ashamed

OKAY, VERY WEIRD GAMING QUESTION THAT I NEED ANSWERED FOR A FIC

In old RPGs, there was a very common max stat for ATK, DEF, INT, et cetera, right? Something to do with it being the biggest integer the engine could recognize or something.

It was 266, wasn't it? Or something like that?

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I think you're looking for 255. 256 is 2^10 so 255 is the biggest binary number you can get with....howeverthehellmany digits it is.

Yeah, it was 255. It was the max stat for Pokemon for the longest time too. Might still be, come to think of it.
