Perhaps he finds it upsetting that you look after Nueva and not himself. You know Talon, he's got a large ego. All this time, he's wanted you to be on his side and give you reasons to cherish him. And he knows that you and Nueva are close friends, but he didn't want that relationship to be stronger than his and yours.
