I didn't quite get the rage behind Keith's SC tonight. Mum did though. She says its a New Yorker thing.

'Kay.

I'm so glad he's back, though!

What'd he talk about?

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Guliani being an evil bastard.

[identity profile] amireal.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
GUILANI? Or the current mayor? Bloomberg?

Because-- Guliani was always a bastard, but mostly the good kind.

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Presidential Candidate Rudolf Guilani.

Not this time around. Keith's got this thing against terrormongering in politics. And Rudy basically said "voting for dems will only mean more death".

[identity profile] amireal.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
How was he being a bastard?

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, too succinct. The video and the transcript will undoubtably be up here in a bit.

[identity profile] amireal.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Cool. Thanks! If you want, I can explain why he's so annoyed in detail after I see it?

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Fine by me! Mum won't explain, all "long story, New Yorkers don't like him". Something about the first WTC thing. Please do throw any insight you mught have at me.

[identity profile] amireal.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
...

um.

No.

NYC people LOVE him. Wanted him to run for another term. *blinks*

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
*pokes at the Mum*

*pokes more*

"New Yorkers have a love-hate relationship with him, more hate, though, due to the whole... open closet of skeletons thing. The rest of America saw him as a great leader, but not us."

So.... whatev.

[identity profile] amireal.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Um. Depends on who you ask. yeah no one thought he was great leader material. But he was better than Dinkins. Or Koch. And he told reporters to fuck off.

[identity profile] eh-notsomuch.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not a New Yorker, but I live close by, and my company's home office is in Manhattan. On Sept 10, 2001, New Yorkers were ANXIOUSLY awaiting the end of his term. Instructions to not let the door hit him where the good Lord split him abounded.

Then 9/11 happened. And Everything Changed (trademarked by the Repub party).

The next week, people started to wonder if a third term wasn't a good idea. Cooler heads prevailed.

He did some good for the city, but he left a lot of bad feeling.

Oooooh, okay. Conflicting opinions! *sways between you and Ami*
ext_41597: Rita Moreno glancing over her shoulder. (start spreadin' the news.)

[identity profile] nerdork.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yes and no. There are TONS of NYC people who DESPISE him (I was kind of young but not a fan, myself).

[identity profile] amireal.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, first of all? Sept 11 is a very-- touchy subject in NYC. Also, Guiliana wasn't elected during the first WTC bombing.

It's. Mostly it's the idea that the republicans in general and he in particular, are campaigning by saying that the Dems will Kill americans. Ironically, the republicans where in office for Spt 11. They weren't even DEFENSIVE up till then. No one took terrorism seriously in the US. There's a reason a lot of countries like Israel and Ireland where saying "Oh god, horrible" but sort of going "well, see what it feels like?".

It's-- a thing. Mostly? Sept 11 is not a campaign tactic, esp if you sucked during the happening.

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, okay. That is somewhat enlightening.

Also, I think Keith may be upset 'cause he takes the 9/11 attacks very far. Lost three friends and the whole "human remains in potholes" and "victims found in sewer four years after the attacks" thing.

[identity profile] eh-notsomuch.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I can't believe they're trotting out the "Democrats will ALLOW TERRORISTS TO KILL YOU IN YOUR BEDS. AND YOUR KIDS. AND YOUR MOM" crap already. They've been singing the same song since 9/11. Pisses me off too.

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
.... At least they're more subtle about it this time?

Also, don't Keith and Tweety have to interview candidates tomorrow? Whoo boy, I hope Keith can hold his tongue.

[identity profile] eh-notsomuch.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
He knows when it's appropriate to lash out and when he should behave himself. And besides, it'll be all Dems tomorrow night. He may ask, with tongue planted thoroughly in cheek, "Sir/Madam, do you intend to let the terrorists bomb us in our beds as Mr. Giuliani suggested yesterday?"

[identity profile] toperfection.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
So he's back? Goody..I've missed him so. The Guliani statement made my eyes-roll and head hurt. I mean DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT=DEATH!DOOM! RUN 4 YOUR LIVES PEOPLE! and that makes no sense at all. If an attack is coming (knocks on wood to prevent it from happening) it's going to come no matter who is president.
Okay..that's all I've gotta say *watches AC 360*

btw, did ya get the mail I sent you? did ya? 'cause gmail was being a bitch to me earlier so I don't know if it worked.

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:18 am (UTC)(link)

I did. All I can say is you desperately need a spell check. Then we can talk characterization. Oi.

[identity profile] toperfection.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes..spelling? so not my thing..damn you english..you are hard. Okay..just wanted to know if you had got ir

[identity profile] garageinc74.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it is a New Yorker thing at all. What Giuliani said was fearmongering at its worst. This man is taking classes terrifying rhetoric from Dick Cheney. Almost word-for-word what Bush said during his stomp speeches of the 2006 midterm campaign. It didn't work for Bush then, and it will not work for Rudy now. Rudy is trying to play to a base he doesn't have.

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, no, 'cause last time Keith got ranty on terror in campaigns, it was for the really horrific ads during the Senatorial election. And these comments are nothing to that.

[identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved it. I completely share his anger, and it's wonderful to see someone calling Rudy out on his crap. Way back when he was a US attorney, I actually had a lot of respect for him for all the organized crime cases he prosecuted. Now? I hate everything he represents.

[identity profile] hanachan01.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I was glad to Keith get all angry like that, sine I know that a lot of people have the same feelings. When I heard Giuliani's Dems=Death statement, I was angry as well-party has nothing to do with an ability to protect the country. Keith was full of rage, yet also well spoken-he made good points and wasn't just like "OMG GIULIANI SUXXORS!!! BURN HIM!!" or something. Go Keith! ^^ Keiht was awesome all night, but that was definately the best part...
