McCain: 1, Barack: 0.

Barack Obama, you fucking idiot.

When McCain lies about what your plan is, you don't laugh and say softly "That's not true" and let him keep going.

You fucking call him out. You say the words, "John McCain, you are a liar."

You lost this debate. You lost it because you let him yell over you and you wouldn't talk over him. This was not a time to be polite, you idiot.

And as for myself? I am so angry at John McCain, I am shaking. John McCain doesn't give a flying fuck about the veterans. The fact that he brought them up like that at the end- I cannot handle how angry that made me.

I think the thing that is most maddening is the "Oh, he can't get angry because then he becomes a scary angry black man!" excuse. Anyone who would actually think that nonsense NEVER WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Kudos on the veterans thing. As a veteran, it makes me ill to see McCain try to claim that he's this bastion of support for veterans when his voting record on veteran's issues is shit.

And don't even get me started on that ridiculous bracelet shit. Obama should have said, "You know what? I have a bracelet given to me too. And it has absolutely NOTHING to do with what we're talking about. You're just tugging on people's heart strings for sympathy because you have nothing of substance to say on this issue.

I believe the proper adjective that describes my mood is seething.

(here via [livejournal.com profile] ontd_political, hope you don't mind.

As much as I'm optimistic about the outcome of the debate, with Obama coming out of it looking a lot better than McCain, I do feel it was a failure on his part, not getting in McCain's face on a lot of points.

He needed to have more moments like when he aggressively mentioned that McCain wouldn't even meet with Spain. Obama is definitely treading a little too lightly. Though, for foreign policy supposedly being McCain's strong point, Obama held his ground quite well.

Wow. I totally watched a different debate than you. I thought Obama did great. He also seemed far more gracious and presidential. And I'm very glad to see that those polled felt the same way. In the CNN polls, Obama won in every single category, including those over the age of 50 and women by really big margins.

Obama wasn't the one behind going in to this debate. McCain was. He should have done far better than he did, and he didn't. Obama won this hands down.

i thought obama did very well. this was the one debate that mccain could have won and it wouldn't have hurt us because this is clearly supposed to be his strong suit. that said, best he could claim in a petulant tie. fuck, he wouldn't even look at obama out of fear that he would dive across the isle and throttle obama giving up his terrible temper.

cnn polls show obama winning with women and older voters, and independent voters i think would be much more drawn to the persona obama presented than the asshat devient jerkbag mccain always is.

i'm sure my personal opinions weigh heavily into my belief that obama won, but let me just say that i was going to vote for him this afternoon, and am only more proud to do so after his first debate performance.
