Intro Post

This LJ is...

... Mostly. About a third of the entries are FLocked and all the RPS fic is under lock. If you'd like to be friended, comment here and specify whether you're here for fic or not, just so I know.

ETA (December 30, 2008): I no longer write RPS. I'm deeply into the video gaming fandom now. You can find my past RPS work at [livejournal.com profile] fakenews_fanfic. Only RL stuff is locked now, really.

I'm definitely curious about what fic you may have under lock and key (is there any TDS/TCR? *hopeful eyes*), but I'm also rather interested in you as a person. You seem very politically aware, something I've more or less given up on being, and you were the one who drew my attention to Rachel Maddow (and possibly Keith Olbermann, if I ever manage to catch his show).

I actually finally saw Rachel about a week ago or so ago (maybe, I'm not sure); the one where she did a video conference with a conservative political figure and he basically tried to chew her out for being biased, and she totally owned him. :) I must admit her bias did bother me; I kept going "Well yeah, but what about when Obama/other Democrat did [X]?", and I thought the guy might have had a valid point or two at the beginning, but as soon as she started talking with him he completely fell apart and she owned. Taking somebody off their high horse, for once. I guess I'm just spoiled by TDS' slightly less obvious bias (they have no trouble pointing out when the Democrats do something stupid), or maybe I just saw a particular night where the Democrats didn't do much to ignite Rachel's ire. Either way, is there a way I can catch her show (and possibly Keith's) online?

Also, did you see the interview with her in the New York Times? I WANT HER HOUSE. WANT WANT WANT.

In conclusion... be my friend? *puppy eyes*

:laughs: I believe TDS has a much stronger bias than Rachel, but I listen to her radio show, so I'm used to hearing her bitch about both parties all the damn time. Keith, he's more biased than both of them, but I don't watch him for news, just to unwind after the day. It's been months since he's told me something I didn't already know. :huge news nerd: Rachel, though, she covers things no one else seems to, such as infrastructure, the NSA spying, and voter purging, to name just what she's covered in the last week. :D

You are friended! Welcome, welcome. :D

So I recced your Psych stories to a friend and she, being apparently tag-challenged, found them by just going back through your journal page by page. In the process of pretending I wasn't reading over her shoulder, I realized that I'd friended you without doing the whole journal read/scan-through thing I usually do before I ask somebody if I can friend them (so I don't inadvertently make stupid statements/ask stupid questions/offend). Since I can resist anything but procrastination, I've been jumping back and forth through journal entries, and I must say, you're even cooler than I first thought. :) I have so much pundit-stuff to catch up on. Also, I blame you for getting me into watching the news again.

P.S. Can I be on your RPS filter? I was all "Ooh! *clicky*" and all I got was that "This is a protected entry, GTFO" page. :(

I feel cool. :D Shame lately my inner gaming nerd has risen and destroyed my cool.

You... You are on the RPS filter. :blinkblink:

OMG, I fail. Sorry. I was just flipping through your fic files and ran into the stories you'd posted on [livejournal.com profile] fakenews_fanfic, which, since I wasn't in the group, I wasn't able to read, and for some reason I thought it was some weird filter thing. Then I grew a clue and joined the community, and I can read them now. So forget I said anything.

The fact that you have an inner gaming nerd at all is a definite component of your coolness. :) It's so nifty to read girls geeking out over video games. That Diane/Artemis character you were talking about? I wish I was like that (I briefly contemplated changing my name to Artemis ages ago, so it was definitely a tinhat moment when you mentioned her handle). I just suck balls at video games and don't have the attention span needed to improve. The only game I'm any good at is Pokemon. *g*

P.S. Heh. I just noticed - you're the same age as my little sister (well, about 2.5 months older). Cool.
