I like themes okay

GOOD NEWS: The Escapist's Unskippable (weekly video series that MST3Ks game openings) will be having a Metal Gear August!

BAD NEWS: It's MGS4 only. WTF. I mean, MGS4 is hilarious, yes, but the rest of the games deserve love too, dammit! And I hate MGS4 so.

GOOD NEWS: Have been playing Saint's Row 2. It is ludicrously fun and addictive, like GTA but with a huge sense of humor.

BAD NEWS: It's so addictive, it's completely wrecked my sleeping habits.

GOOD NEWS: Have been doing job applications. Got one for the fancy new movie theatre that just opened up! They were nice suits and stuff there, so I, who has way too many semi-formal clothes for someone living in rural Missouri, am set for that.

KINDA SCARY NEWS: They want me to sign a release form before applying. Uh. Okay. :blinks:

CHAOTIC NEUTRAL NEWS: I use this icon way too much. LOOK AT HIS FACE. HIS "WHUPS, KILLED A GUY" SADFACE! It's awesome.

Hey, GTA had a sense of humor until GTA IV. Sure, it was a very sophomoric and frat boy sense of humor most of the time (Sprunk, A Taste of ______ __ Come, anyone?), but had its moments.

Before signing that release, go through it with a fine toothed comb to see there's nothing particularly heinous about it.

You have a point, but I like SR2's humor better because it's played very straight so all the craziness is very surreal. GTA always gave me the impression it's trying a little too hard to balance gritty crime and lolarity. In SR2, the majority of the game feels like a sort-of parody of GTA. I dunno, I just enjoy the atmosphere more.

Oh, I am. :nods:

Hmm, now I really want to play Saint's Row 2. I got sick and tired of GTA IV rather quickly (which is odd since I had so much fun playing GTA III and Vice City, and was at least able to finish San Andreas), but Saint's Row 2 seems to have kept what I loved about those earlier GTA games.

Also, it doesn't have your fucking cousin calling you to go out all the damn time. And you can play as a girl. :becoming Queen of Stilwater City, hell yes:

BAD NEWS: It's MGS4 only

What? Laaame. Granted, there's plenty to make fun of, but still. :[[[

Oh, and congrats on finding another job! It'll be hard to juggle two jobs at once, but I'm sure you can do it. ♥

Maybe their mocking it will heal my fannish pain. :face of woe:

I haven't got it. 8( I'm just doing apps at the moment.

New theater? Would this be in W or in S?

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2009-07-28 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
W. Not new so much as they built a new one and moved there. It's very nice and the guy at the counter was in a very nice suit. 8B
