So um.
Anyone else seriously interested in going into the gaming industry as a career and know anything about what courses to take in college? Mum and I are both looking at the Uni of Phoenix's online program for some education.

ETA: Research says knowing C++ is tres important. Also knowing someone in the industry helps a lot. Also also, taking a course in game design is nice, but having a major in history/philosophy/etc with electives in tech writing, programming, gen design, and the like also works well.
And I need to get a PC capable of playing games because mods are excellent for resumes.

If you wanted, I could put you in touch with my friend who works for EA. I had the daughter chat with her, and she ended up putting her in touch with other women in the gaming industry.

Especially since EA is no longer That Evil Vidya Game Company- THANKS ACTIVISION FOR TAKING THE CROWN!.My problem right now is if I do anything this year (or probably next), it has to be local or online. I'm just not clear on what I should taking. I guess programming... but otherwise I'm clueless. D8

I DLed a C++ compiler. I don't understand how any of it works, so at the least I have to google for tutorials.
