why'd you fill my sorrows with the words you borrowed from the only place you know

I officially hate DeviantArt's new "put deviation in storage" option. I may just start saving people's art so it doesn't RANDOMLY DISAPPEAR FOR NO REASON WHAT.

In less selfish news, I think I'm gonna do one of those memefics where you pick an album and write a ficlet for each song. I think I wanna do Damien Rice's O. I'm in that kind of mood. And I'm slowly looking over this old fic Fly and I started writing, trying to get back in that plot-before-character wanking mindset. As if I ever focused more on a cohesive story over prose-heavy shit (see: Repeat to Fade, Facets, and everything else I've written). I'd mention how I'm reminded that Fly is a better writer than me, but I don't think obvious facts need to be restated.

Oh, damn, I don't have that Rice album on this computer. And my Zune is still charging... I guess I'll start tomorrow if I don't manage to make myself play Persona 4. Or maybe I'll just throw my massive music collection on shuffle and write for whatever comes up.

Sigh. I'm not better, I'm just different. There's so many little points of genius in RtF which I would never have thought of; from where you're standing, everyone else is better because you can't surprise yourself the way other people can.

Writing plot doesn't make anyone better or worse. It just means you put more effort into something no-one reads - character focused stuff is great, and I still do shitloads of that. Hell, I've only been trying to write plots for the last year or so, and I've been fanwriting since I was twelve.

And I thought RtF was plenty plotty, so there. ♥

aaaah I wasn't fishing for compliments, I just really noticed how much you set up beforehand in chapter two, then left so many notes on everything else that needs to be mentioned. I really thought it was like CSI: Philanthropy or something (which is why I haven't jumped back into the fic yet, I'm trying to wrap my head around how I'll incorporate all those notes).

IDK, I've always been told by my family and teachers that my biggest failing is that I don't have the patience to stop and explain and foreshadow, so maybe to me, you are a better writer because you can pull off what I haven't been able to for years.

You're a ton better at pacing and detail than I am. I am the WORST PACER EVER, I pad to get timing. You just seem to have a natural knack for it that I lack because I'm so impatient and desperate to get to the cool shiny stuff.

I've never thought of you as impatient. You spend a lot of time building exposition and setting things up.

THIS IS POINTLESS. I don't think anyone in fandom considers themselves a good writer anyway. 8(
