OTP of Choice: Mutsumi/Keitaro
Why it would never happen: Naru/Keitaro were the Official Couple.

Rurouni Kenshin
OTP of Choice: Kenshin/Kaoru
Why it would never happen: ACTUALLY DID IN THE OAVS, IIRC.

Stargate: Atlantis
OTP of Choice: McKay/Sheppard, Zelenka/Weir
Why it would never happen: Gay, and I have no idea.

Firefly
OTP of Choice: Simon/Jayne, Mal/River
Why it would never happen: Actually hinted at by Adam Baldwin, and breaks up Official Couple and big ol' age difference.

Newsman RPS
OTP of Choice: Keith/Rachel, Keith/Anderson
Why it would never happen: besides the obvious IT'S FUKKEN RPS Rachel is gay, Keith is straight. Funny how that works.

Psych
OTP of Choice: Shawn/Lassiter, Gus/Juliet
Why it would never happen: Gay, breaks up Official Couple.

Metal Gear Solid
OTP of Choice: Snake/Otacon
Why it would never happen: Homophobic gamers.

Tales of Symphonia
OTP of Choice: Lloyd/ANYONE BUT COLETTE
Why it would never happen: FUCKING OFFICIAL COUPLE GODDAMNIT I HATE COLETTE.

Big Bang Theory (yes, already I'm shipping)
OTP of Choice: Penny/Sheldon (I'm as surprised as you are)
Why it would never happen: Official Couple in the way and Sheldon/Science is the show's OTP.

Sensing a pattern here. I'm genuinely trying to wrack my brain for one of my pairings that was canon. Even my handful of het pairings have some sort of issues-- which is what draws me to them, I think. I need some strangeness to the power dynamics.

Don't remember the OAVs very well, but Kenshin and Kaoru are definitely canon in the end of the manga; they've got a kid.

My OTPs are so bland/canon it's pathetic. I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through you.

OIC. I wasn't certain with all the different continuities for the series but I thought they got together somewhere.

Mine are pretty bland too. The majority of them are friends with bitchy banter and even more are just the fandom's most popular pairing. 8\

Oh god, Kenshin and Kaoru. I like how they actually let it happen in the OAVs and then made it as soul-crushing as possible. Watsuki preferred his happy ending.

Snake and Otacon happened. It's just behind the scenes.

I never finished the manga or the anime, actually. I got through the Kyoto Arc on the anime, I think, and I don't remember how far I got in the manga.

I don't think Snake/Otacon happened. I just think they completely love each other and never shagged. But that's just me. 83

I don't think I've ever shipped a canon pairing, now that I think about it. And by 'shipped' I mean 'wrote fic about it'. I've definitely shipped people before, but if I'm going to get into the fandom, I tend to lean into pairings that are basically canonically NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.
