Would it be too much to ask for Mum to stop making jokes about how I'm "gonna make some man very happy someday"? I know it's meant to be funny, but it's hard to keep faking that smile.

How about throwing back, "Not half as happy as I'll make some woman!"

Or is that too strong?

:(

I'm out to my parents (and they were good about not saying this sort of thing even before), but I get this everytime we have a gathering with the extended family. At length. And then I smile politely and hope no one notices how pissed off I actually am.

I'm straight and I have issues whenever someone tells me that. Mothers, I tell you.

Oh yep, the marriage button is always fun (I tend to get the "but bisexuality doesn't exist" from relatives, though not my parents). Just the pressure to get a partner/get married is uncomfortable.

But no win situations, they suck (but on a random note - there was an article about Keith Olbermann and Bill O'Reilly in the newspaper I read. He was surrounded by baseball cards and all).
