Would it be too much to ask for Mum to stop making jokes about how I'm "gonna make some man very happy someday"? I know it's meant to be funny, but it's hard to keep faking that smile.

Well... I just realized I was gay in the last year. It took a really long time to figure it out, but now that I did, I'm very happy. But I don't want to tell Mum until I'm older because I believe she'll think it's just me acting out (she thought the same thing about my atheism). I really don't want to deal with that. So, ya know. ;shrugs: It's currently a no-win situation.

I have a gay 19-year-old adopted LJ son in the Philippines going thru some of the same garbage, but his parents are both religious AND insane.
