Whoo, long time, no entry. Few things have happened, both in fandom life and real life. Let's begin the debriefing.
Fandom Life:
1- Forgive me for being a heartless traitor, people, but if I were stranded on a deserted isle and could only watch one show until I die, it's House, M.D., FOX's hit medical dramedy. It's the best show ever, bar none. Dr. Greg House is a misanthropic bastard but a genius diagnostician with a leg infraction, giving his chronic pain and one hell of a limp. My favorite character, though, is Houseboyfriend co-worker, Dr. James Wilson, the man of the many marriages. He's the Boy Wonder oncologist who frequents House's cases thanks both to his expertise and his friendship with House.
What to know who those to are exactly like? Crowley and Aziraphale. House is the demon with a spark of goodness in him, Wilson the angel who's just enough of a bastard to be worth liking. That's them and their relationship in a nutshell. Also? The TPTB hand us Wilson/House slasher evidence on a fuckin' silver platter. It so weird. Like, in 1.05, rather than going home to his wife for Christmas, Wilson spends the night at House's apartment where they eat take-out Chinese and listen to House play the piano. In 1.09, Wilson attends House's court appearance and sits behind him, trying to talk him out of something stupid. In 1.07, House takes constant snipes at Wilson for buying a new, green silk tie. ("You want to look pretty. At work. *sing-songy* Wilson's got a girlfriend!" "Sh-shut up! I do not!")
They are my new OTP to End All OTPs. *happy sigh*
2- I'm routinely pissed off at SG's TPTB. We're only a few months off the revival of the season and we have details on only three episode AND no episode title list?! WTF?!
3- Left Behind book series. Holy shit, these are cool books. Yes, I know, I'm a militant agnostic reading a Christian series, shame on me. But have you guys read Revelations? Awesome stuff. John the Baptist had a dream of what would happen in the world's last days. It was full of showy imagery (you could well show a dude from that time a motorcyclist and say "That's War, dude." a la Good Omens.)
So I decide to read this series. Pure curiousity. Is some of it hype? Meh, no more than any other good book. About 10%. But the rest is just because it's an amazingly done series. I'm at the end of book three, Nicolae, and will be picking up Soul Harvest by tonight.
The story is, at it's base, the aftereffects of the Rapture (to you non-Christians, that's Jesus coming back to bring the believers to heaven so they won't deal with the coming events), the rise of the Antichrist (in this case, the Secretary-General of the UN, Nicolae Carpathia who's the coolest bad guy ever), and the Tribulation (a series of Judgements on those who weren't taken in the Rapture. Some left on earth are newly-found Christians, some are still non-believers) and some of the Judgements are nasty.
( Watch me fumble around and muck up the Seal Judgements. )
( Now I screw up the Trumpet Judgements. )
( Finally, the Bowl or Vial Judgements. )
Whoo. That was fun. I like this theology/mythology stuff. Fun to play with. Anyway, that's just the Judgements themselves. Apprently to get the Antichrist stuff, I have to read Ezekiel or Daniel. I'm still in John, but he's boring. No end-of-the-world visions or anything. After all, I'm not a Christian. I just find it interesting.
Real Life:
1- Redecorated the entire den. Phew, hard work. Hoshi was over that day and Grandma made her work too, poor thing. *pets Hoshi*
2- I'm... going to church. *hides from thrown tomatoes* Don't kill me! It's just... I have a friend who works with my mother, Roger, who's been on us for ages to go to the Saturday service at his Baptist church. We finally agreed to it. Wow. I was impressed. It wasn't all Bible-Thumpage. That's saved for the Sunday service I suppose. The Saturday one is more laid back and, surprisingly, funny. Genuinely humorous. The preachers make jokes as they talk about your basic psychology stuff. No bible-reading or anything like that. They talk about people. Recently, a guest speaker came with a degree in Psychology who spoke about people who get divorced a lot. And he made sense and was very funny. I liked him. And he's a nice guy. I'm going back tomorrow. I'm hoping it'll be good.
3- Driving test later today. Well, the written one anyway. I'm shooting for getting a motorcycle rather than a car actually. Anyone have any advice for me?
That's it for now. I have laundry to do. And I'm starving. Going fourteen hours without food does that to a person.
