[livejournal.com profile] cosmic just pointed out that in another universe, Firefly would be in its fifth season right now.

God, why does that hurt so much.

ETA: I'm in GIMP making art in tribute to My Show. Expect some graphics later today.

That hurts in my SOUL. I'm watching the Serenity commentary for the first time and Joss is so eloquent and intelligent and funny and just GETS IT and WHY ISN'T THERE MORE.

I've taken notations down from that commentary. Joss is the mentor I've never met. He never underestimated his viewers and never let modern television standards control his work.

Silver lining: At least this means Marti Noxin never got ahold of it and turned it into one long rape fantasy. What we had was pure Joss, and while Fox can still suck my non-existent cock, at least he didn't have the time to get all brilliant for a new project and have to turn over control. [He's writing "Astonishing X-Men" right now, and would have been doing so from about season 3 to the present.]

I really wonder sometimes why it never got a second chance. Millions and Millions of people love it now, lots of them just got to know it after it was cancelled, but I think it would actually have a chance now and be all shiny... *sad*
