"It's a poor workman who blames his tools."

Elliot from Sports Night watches ESPN. Or, at least, Sorkin did, while writing the show.

I'm so head over heels in love with Sports Night, I don't know what I'll do in a few hours when I get through the last episode.

PS: Yeah, I know, technically the workman line was not made by KO, but... seriously, one of the SC catchphrases in SN? Too coincidental.

Everyone is having a Sports Night party without me! Sigh. *goes back to bookmarked SN fic*

Enjoy the lack of SN. I'm tearing through a tissue box over Danny's breakdown right now.

That storyline - and fandom's reaction - killed me. You're talking to a dead delga right now.

How did fandom react to it? I know the show cut off at just about the worse possible time when it came to plots-in-progress...

With the best fic ever. Just masses and masses of fic - Dan and Casey, Dan/Casey, Casey stays, Casey leaves. It was brilliant. (Eventually I'll do a rec post of my favourite stuff.) I don't think I've seen a fandom since that loved canon so damn much, except for maybe old school West Wing.

Mmmmm Sports Night. When those DVDs came in the mail, I watched them all in less than two days. SO GREAT.

You know that SN is based on SC, right? So the similarity in catch-phrases is entirely deliberate.

Yes, I do. Dan and Casey's relationship was based off Patrick and Olbermann's.

Yeah, Sorkin watched a lot of SportsCenter while he was working on The American President, and said that he loved the dynamic between Keith and Dan, and purposefully based Sports Night on the environment at SportsCenter.

There's a really good article out there on it, comparing the two, that I can track down for you, if you want.

First off... *hugs you*

Secondly, I already know all this. I started on SN late last year and Scrunchy gave me the crash course then. I just recently got the DVDs from Chris, so I'm finally finishing what I started.

Thank you though.

Thirdly... I need one of those Renaissance icons, but I don't like any particular sport. I watch Olympic curling, but I don't think Slod made one of a curling stone...
