luciazephyr: Book of the Still, the time traveler's lifeline (Default)
I have a question for the writers on my FList.

Do you have a phrase that you've always wanted to write a story around? Or a sentence that you are just waiting for the opportunity to use?

I'm just curious. I know I've had this one sentence in my mind since... I don't even remember, but it's been years.
I am the rise and fall of Rome all in one.

I dunno where it came from. Just that I hear a young woman saying it, someone with great power or potential, but knows that using it will only end in grief. It's been bouncing around my brain for a long time.

I think I subconsciously write many of my characters are the phrase. I have these two story ideas, long winding tales, and they both revolve around two very different women. But both of them are sort of exemplified by that sentence.

Anyone have something similar?

NO. THIS IS NOT ALLOWED.

I AM GOING TO FIND WHOEVER THOUGHT THIS BULLSHIT UP AND BEAT THEM TO DEATH WITH A SEQUINED STILETTO1.

:clutches chest: My childhood is crying! I grew up on RHPS. This physically pains me.

1 - Note, the shoe, not the type of sword.

ETA: I am going to watch my copy of RHPS right now, actually. :pissed:

You know, I haven't watched RHPS for at least three years. I turned it on today, set the DVD to play the Audience Participation audio track (the 25th Anniversary Edition has it), and listened while I painted.

It's freaky, but I always remember what to shout and when. Except the really raunchy ones.

"What does America need, Dick?" "America needs a full-time president." "Not a part-time crook!"

:wonders if anyone knows WTF I'm talking about:
