I have a question for the writers on my FList.

Do you have a phrase that you've always wanted to write a story around? Or a sentence that you are just waiting for the opportunity to use?

I'm just curious. I know I've had this one sentence in my mind since... I don't even remember, but it's been years.
I am the rise and fall of Rome all in one.

I dunno where it came from. Just that I hear a young woman saying it, someone with great power or potential, but knows that using it will only end in grief. It's been bouncing around my brain for a long time.

I think I subconsciously write many of my characters are the phrase. I have these two story ideas, long winding tales, and they both revolve around two very different women. But both of them are sort of exemplified by that sentence.

Anyone have something similar?

I have a couple-- I have a word file with them in. The one I've had the longest is:

And so it was he built them cathedrals of the sky.

I also have a Word file with various quotations and phrases that I find inspiring, or that I think would make good titles/prompts.

Mine is "It's hard living in a world of peace when you are a creature of chaos."

I have no Idea who says it but I have always wanted to use it in something.

I've always wanted to write a story where Anderson becomes part of the Destiny Club and use this line from Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

" You think you know ... what's to come ... what you are. You haven't
even begun.
"

There's this line from a rock-and-soul song,

"And I know you need to find what you thought you left behind in a past life, I won't question why the only light that you had you gave away."

and it's just so...significant to me?

Mine's kind of a sillier line.
