luciazephyr: Book of the Still, the time traveler's lifeline (Default)

Hm. I haven't even glanced at LJ in days. This is odd.

  1. Have been familiarizing myself with Ubuntu. I love her to pieces (all OSs are female, didn't you know?) but for someone totally new to Unix-style set-ups, there is a giant learning curve. Thank god Mum works at a bookstore and is getting me The Practical Guide to Ubuntu for my dumb ass.

  2. I played the PS3! Borrowed it from one of Mum's co-workers so we could play Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction 'cause, goddamn, if I made myself play that fucking FPS crap game in the series, I can't give up on my Insomniac Games just because they jumped to another system. To make it plainer: my very first PSX game, back when I was a wee child, was Insomniac's Spyro the Dragon. I played all the Insomniac-made sequels, then followed them to the R&C series. They are My Game Company and I'll follow them to the edge of the world. I adore them.

That said, R&CF:ToD was utterly awesome, fun, and oh my god gorgeous. I didn't know games could look like that.

But the ending fucking blew and I feel 110% cheated.

  3. Speaking of video games... I may be making a fanvid of Kingdom Hearts 2. >.> I've rediscovered the love I had for Roxas and Axel and the concept of Nobodies and... I think I could make a decent vid of them. I'm just waiting for someone on the Ubuntu forums to give me a hand finding a video editing program. God, I will never say these words out loud but I miss Windows Movie Maker.

  4. The new puppy is not the little Satan I expected him to be, despite the fact he seems to get depressed when in my presence. Not my fault I refuse to play with him- no matter what I do, he bites me and I don't roll like that. Have dubbed the puppy Pavlov. Mum wants him to be Jake. So, on a compromise, we named him Jacob Pavlov. I call him Pav tho and he seems to answer to that more readily, so that's groovy.

  5. I have daily migraines now. I am certain it's because my glasses. Since I'm shooting to get Lasik done, we didn't get me a new prescription for the last year since my glasses are very expensive. I'm starting to really suffer for it now though. The aspirin bottle is a close friend of mine. One pill kills a light-induced headache before it becomes... Well, my family has a very bad history with migraines (it involves hospital visits and one time a suicide attempt) and that I'm getting them so early in life is kind of scaring me...

  6. I could really do to see the world on fire right now. I am not sure why, but lately I'm putting on a facade of kindness and patience instead of being genuinely kind and patient.

When I was a kid, I could tell when a storm was coming. I've got that same weird, cold feeling right now. It's wrecking my focus something awful.

  7. Are you still reading this? Seriously? I don't think anyone actually reads these... Here, have a song. It's the one I'm gonna vid. Thanks for reading, I guess.

  8. Something is really wrong and I can't figure out what it is.

See you guys around then.

5. Did your eye doc tell you that you were a candidate for Lasik? When I talked to mine, they told me they don't recommend Lasik until after your eyes have stopped changing, which is usually after you are 25. Mine finally seem to have stabilized a few years ago...at 27. *eyeroll*

He told me I had to wait until I was 18 to do it. Now you've got me even more worried. I'll have to look into this ASAP...

Yeah, I would. There's no point in paying several grand for eye surgery if you are just going to have to have it done again! It may depend on how bad your eyes are or something, too; mine are pretty shitty. Woo to bad eyesight inherited from both parents.

My eye doc told me the same thing. Around 24-25 was when I could get it. I'm a candidate but I prolly won't get it. But he said I had to wait until about then too, when my eyes stopped changing. I'd double check. Getting them done early may be good but you don't wanna have to go back for multiple surgeries.

(Did you decide not to get it when they said, "...and then we cut a flap in your cornea" too? That killed it for me!)

I hope you feel better soon, doggies can be so infuriating, I just end up treating them like special children.

On the subject of laser Eye surgery I'm hoping to get it done like my folks and grandparents, but my eyes need to stop growing first, so i'll need to get some good health insurance first...
