luciazephyr: Book of the Still, the time traveler's lifeline (Default)

This is a purely political post, but it's not related to the elections at all, so read it anyway.

I want to share this bit of info I got from the IAVA today. Apparently, there's going to national viewing party of Charlie Wilson's War April 30th. Afterward, people are invited to dial into a conference with Paul Rieckhoff himself, along with the real Charlie Wilson, and Nathaniel Fick, a marine who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

To me, this is pretty awesome, so I'm spreading the word. 'Cause I know that I'm definitely listening in to the conference call and maybe sending some questions too.

I don't know how many people on my FList are as big on vets' rights as I am. I mean, I did a ten minute speech on it, check the IAVA's site every day, and have bugged my friends into reading the printed out reports on vets' health and resources that I have (which reminds me, I need to get the Broken Military report off of Christara on Monday, note to self). Just spreading awareness about what our troops have to go through really helps. You'd be astounded at how many people have no idea.

So, if you're at all interested in this sort of thing, go here for more info. And, if it's any extra encouragement to do this, you can get one of 200 free copies of the movie should you host one of the viewing parties. Everyone likes free stuff, right? Especially when it's Sorkinese.

Another note to self: Apparently Congressman Ike Skelton has not signed onto the new GI Bill. Send him a letter.

I'm done. Sorry for the teal dear, but I felt the need to share.
