:sigh:

Now I've got a headache.

I called McCaskill and told her we elected her to fight civil injustice, not perpetuate it. And then I called Feingold's office and asked them to pass on my thanks to him.

I need some friggin' aspirin.

hope your headache goes away soon :(

I'm not quite sure what to think...I've checked websites that show recent votes on the FISA bill, but it's a bit confusing.

I did call my representative by the way, the guy who answered said he would pass my message on, but I'm sure I should believe him...

do you understand what's going on by the way?

Well, I understand the FISA bill was passed, but these amendments showed up, striking the telecomms immunity. were there any other amendments that I missed and how do they affect the overall bill?

and what exactly can or will happen now that the bill has been passed?

sorry if this is overwhelming...my eyes are like this --> @.@

Feingold-Dodd: Strip telecomm immunity from FISA Amendment Act completely.

Spector: Make it so people can sue the government in lieu of the telecomms.

(I forget, starts with a B ends in 'man'): Postpone decision on telecomm civil immunity for another week to allow a final report on the matter to come in.

The bill itself is, by supporter Senator Bond's own admission on the floor yesterday, the same law with a few cosmetic changes. The important thing to remember is that though the FISA court now allegedly has more power, up until 2005, the President ignored all the rules and did many illegal, warantless wiretaps. That only came out because a whistleblower. Hell, when Alberto Gonzales was questioned before his confirmation by Russ Feingold himself while this illegal taps were going down, Gonzales said on the record that the President did not have that power.

In short: The FISA system is broken and today's amendment bill did nothing to fix that.

There are only three reasons to ever move to Wisconsin.

Snow, cheese, and Senator Russ Feingold.
