I just explained to Mum why I hate Twilight et al, and she told me that I was starting to sound like those people who hated Harry Potter because it has witchcraft.
Wot?
Crazy fundie fear of Satanic magic = not wanting young girls to think an emotional, insecure emo girl whose entire life revolves around the utterly perfect (read: batshit) man in her life who DARES TO LOVE HER is a good role model?
:/

Date: 2008-08-03 06:31 pm (UTC)Meanwhile, you should try this book I'm reading now: The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart. I'm not done with it, so I suppose it could all fall apart in the last hundred pages, but so far, the protagonist, Frankie, is like the anti-Bella. And she's AWESOME.

Date: 2008-08-05 02:41 am (UTC)I've never read the Twilight books but I'm most likely going to watch the movie out of my shallow love for Robert Pattinson. Have no worries! I plan to heckle it through its entirety.
