Sep. 2nd, 2008 11:39 am"Fund Education, Not Occupation" is one of my favorite protest signs. Oh, how I love these conventions. I bet it's gonna be a rerun of the DNC for MSNBC, with all the progressives flocking to their stage. :D I am so psyched to see Palin and McCain's speeches though.
Also, is Keith still in NYC? That's odd... I know Rachel, Dan, and Tweety are in Minnesota. I still think they are hiding him from the crazy conservatives.
I'm listening to a McCain supporter saying Christianity needs to stop being a political litmus test. I AGREE, GOOD SIR.

PS: Oh, and you know how I once bitched that the Killers second album was pants? I'm relistening to it and it's not horrible. "Sam's Town", "When You Were Young", "For Reasons Unknown", "Read My Mind", and "This River is Wild" are good songs. Even "Bones" is okay... I still find the album overly pretentious and "ooooh, lookit us channeling U2 and Springsteen, we're so speshul". But still.

Date: 2008-09-02 04:53 pm (UTC)And it did sound like they want to keep Keith away from the Repugs from the general feeling/comments I caught from the MSNBC people yesterday. I honestly can't imagine why he'd want to be there. It's insanity.

Date: 2008-09-02 04:59 pm (UTC)o rly? What'd you hear?
Word on why anyone would go there. Well, I would, but I'd be there for the good doctor. :D But Keith is one of the most visible progressive voices in news. That can't be good in on open-air stage. And, christ, I heard about the protests and stuff. wtf, RNC? It's a political convention. You can't just tell people not to express their displeasure. D:

Date: 2008-09-02 05:05 pm (UTC)It was just general talk that it was decided Keith would do better staying in NY. The stage was also set up differently - they don't have an upper deck in St. Paul like they did in Denver, and really, people could easily cause problems for the anchors if they wanted to - though at least in St Paul MSNBC has the right to drag off the protesters that cause interruptions of their broadcast. But yeah, the guard I was talking to yesterday just pretty much said it was decided that it would be better for coverage purposes to have Keith in NY, and Chris in St. Paul.
The military/police response to protesters in St Paul is over the top. There were some protesters just hanging out at one of the squares and the riot police all lined up and did some of their exercises and blocked us all off and just stood there watching them. I heard over the radios them being told that arrests would have to start being made soon. It was bizarre.
