luciazephyr: Book of the Still, the time traveler's lifeline (Default)
[personal profile] luciazephyr
  1. I FOUND TWIN SNAKES. There is one used copy going for $37 at a little corner store in downtown Town. The guy who runs the place was kind enough to put it behind the counter for me. Tomorrow, I'm gonna sell back a bunch of books I have so I can afford the game. Seriously, a thing point, the game could play like crap and I wouldn't care. This is my Amulet of Yendor after my long quest.

  2. Speaking of me being a colossal fucking nerd, I just realized today while I was playing with my hair (when you've had long hair for 18 years, short hair doesn't lose it's novelty very fast) that I have the perfect hair to cosplay as certain character from MGS. Only problem is I have no con to go to if I did get an outfit together. Speaking of, I'd need...
    • Long white coat

    • Dark turtleneck (preferably green, black, or navy)

    • White pants

    • Black leather gloves

The rest I pretty much have. Though I wear hornrims as opposed to his pretty silver wirerims, but wotev, I can fudge that. Carry a briefcase, maybe a little earpiece to talk to Snake via codec? :D :D :D Anyone wanna be my Snake?

  3. Also, I really really love this piece of fanart. Oh, Philanthropy. ILU~! ♥ Yeah, I've been throwing myself deep into the MGS fandom pool and the Snake+Otacon (exchange that "+" for a "/" if you prefer) relationship fascinates me. Even platonically, I see a lot of love between the two of them.

Plus, seeing the nerdy guy come into his own and be a powerful asset to a team makes me happy. Otacon = player proxy? Or Otacon = Kojima's creator proxy? Eh, after I play through the series, I think I'll have a lot of thinky thoughts on Otacon, because he is somebody's fucking proxy, i just need more time and info to pin down whose. I've even dug out my old OPM copies from the bottom of the library's dustiest shelf and am reading old Kojima interviews to try to make my point better. Don't be alarmed- from what I've noticed, MGS inspires everyone to go meta.

  4. Is "whose" the possessive form, or is it "who's"?

  5. WHY IS THE FINAL EPISODE OF RED VS. BLUE: RECONSTRUCTION NOT UP YET? THIS IS MAKING ME ANGRY. YOU WON'T LIKE ME WHEN I AM ANGRY, ROOSTER TEETH PRODUCTIONS. (Sidenote: Mum is stupid. She liked Woo's version of The Incredible Hulk more than the Edward Norton version. FAIL, MUM. FAIL.)

  6. On the other hand, Yahtzee just did a review of Saints Row 2. Shame. I was hoping for a Fable 2 review because I've heard a lot about how buggy that game is and I wanna see Mr. Croshaw go off on Peter Molyneux again. :D :D :D So glad I'm not the only one who hates that pretentious twatwaffle.

  7. I told Mum that Rach got ahold of a face-to-face Obama interview and for the next half hour, all she could say was, "How the hell did she pull that off?" Because Rachel is made of magical awesome, Mum! Also, "chirpy, gay liberal"? Bitch, Imma gonna hafta ask ya to step outside. :puts up her dukes:

  8. In ficland, I am totally stagnant ATM. I think the election has fried my brain. Hell, I haven't even watched Keith in a week. Can't handle it anymore. After the Fourth, though, I think I'll finish "Love-ology"... Sorry for the horrific delay.

  9. And finally, I bought another pair of pinstriped pants. I AM A SHALLOW, PREDICTABLE PERSON. You let me loose in a clothing store and I will either open up my DS and play some Ace Attorney or I will gravitate towards the pinstripes. I am a simple creature.

  10. ETA: Hey, considering that DW spoiler: It's now Hewlett's turn, amirite? He'd be great. :D
ETA2 Someone in another post just said it should be Neil Gaiman. I don't think that'd work for the simple reason that Neil is already a Time Lord, and he doesn't wanna be too blatant, yanno?

That's all, folks. Felt good to do one of these after so long. :D Now, if you'll excuse me, my stomach feels like it's about to re-enact that one scene from Alien. :goes to lay down:

I'm kind of rooting for Colbert XD

He's have to go live in that liberal socialist gay country to do it. Dr. Colbert would never!

I FOUND TWIN SNAKES.

Yay! Where as I actually have owned this game for over a year and I don't think I have ever played it *hides*
Although I must tell you that I am ever closer to completing my Metal Gear Collection ! I somehow found a NES copy of the original METAL GEAR for $5!

Oh how I wish I still had a Nintendo!

.... How much you want for it? :waggles eyebrows: I got We ♥ Katamari and quite a few classic PSX games.

Oh how I wish I still had a Nintendo!

... :cough: If you want, I can set you up with an emulator and a ROM so you can play it. It'd be real easy.

Rather than spamming [livejournal.com profile] th_esaurus further, I'ma reply to you here, re: Neil The Time Lord.

There's just something inexplicable about him, eh? He's got this...magical realism quality to him, if that makes ANY sense at all. I have no idea how else to describe it. HE IS SIMPLY NOT HUMAN, and that makes him amazing.

PINSTRIPES ARE GARMENT SEX, I have a pinstripe waistcoat and it maybe my favourite item of clothing at the moment.

I agree. I just read his work and his blog and something doesn't add up. "Magical realism" fits it pretty well.

Goooood, pinstripes. They had a whole pinstripe ensemble at the store, but I couldn't afford the jacket. It was lovely- brey with light blue stripes and a dark blue liner inside. Humina.

YES PLZ. (I would also settle for Gaiman.)

And yeah, I think 'whose' is the possesive of 'who', while 'who's = 'who is'.

Huzzah and kudos for finding TS! And I must say your descent into MGSdom is epic and fast and delightful ^__^ If you're Otacon for Halloween, I will shit myself.

Don't be alarmed- from what I've noticed, MGS inspires everyone to go meta. <--- Truest statement I've seen today.

And re: DW, I'm really depressed about it, but it was the right thing to do. Can has Dylan Moran Doctor now?

I looked around for the outfit but I think it'll cost too much money to do because I really want the MGS4 outfit- it's my faaaaave. Plus NO ONE will get the ref. I'll maybe do it for my first con (I intend to go to one someday). I even messed with my hair a bit to get it more like Hal's and I did. Soooo some temporary dark grey dye is another thing I need. But I'm psyched about the idea of it. :D I just need someone to be my Snake.

I'm not aware of this Dylan Moran person. :kinda rooting for a girl Doctor btw:

I think someone in an Open Thread at the fic comm wrote Rachel as a Time Lord. It was awesome. She's already got the chucks and the insane intellect and the... inhuman quality.

Oh screw you. Nine was MY Doctor. I GOT ONE SERIES. ONE. YOU CAN HAVE YOUR FOUR (five? I lost track) AND BE HAPPY. :p

I... don't have one. I'm sorry. It was months ago and I never saved the link.

In a MGS high school AU, Dave meets Hal one his way home from track when he hears someone stuck in a locker by some of the jocks, amirite?

Technically, Davison is MY Doctor, but I have ridiculous love for nearly all of them. And that includes Eccles and Tennant :D I do agree that there needed to be MUCH. MORE. ECCLES. But, unfortunately, Eccles has, like, career ADD.

;__; Well, I'll just write one in my head AND NOT SHARE IT. MWAHAHAH.

And promptly pees his pants at the sight of yet another well-built likely-to-be-a-jock, for fear of more humiliation. Dave becomes a good Samaritan and offers protection after making fun of him, because, seriously, what kind of name is Hal for a kid?

Pant-peeing is canon, after all.

I hear Eccles was afraid of the Doctor Who curse, so he left. Wuss. >:( Taking away Nine, the bastard. I hope someday they bring him back, as a pre-Rose Nine, and have him help save the day.

My embarrassment squick would prevent me from writing that, though. Oh well. Another fic-related pipedream, like the idea where a congressman starts attacking Net Neutrality and Hal takes down the entire congressional computer network in retaliation.

Plus, call me crazy, but I think I should actually wait until I play the games before writing fic. :just tossing around bunnies:

*hopes for Time War flashback special, including some Paul McGann*

Don't blame you; I always cringed whenever there was the obligatory person-who-pees was trotted out. WTF, Kojima? WHAT A STRANGE MEME YOU HAVE STARTED.

If I wasn't dying of exhaustion, I might be a little more useful in feeding your bunnies, but I have a case of braindead that's not likely to let up soon. But I really like the idea! And I approve of bringing politics and the internets into the mix :D

Might help XD You've played any of them before? Or just using the power of the youtube?

I've never seen The Movie. It'd be interesting to see if the TPTB consider it canon. I think it's a cop-out if they don't, but wotev.

Aw. Sorry about the braindead. And sorry I keep bugging you about stupid MGS stuff. I just like having someone who knows wtf I'm talking about and am so excited over.

Well, you know how gamers have this... osmosis way of exchanging info? How there are certain things we all just know though we can't remember where we learned them? It's partly that, but, yes, it's a lot YouTube and the Lets Play of MGS2 (though the LPer lacked my affection for Hal, but wotev). Hopefully tomorrow I can start really getting this stuff down. Then I'll probably end up writing fic even tho no one will read it. But I don't care! I wanna write about Hal and Dave's Philanthropy days anyway!

The Movie is American-made, created as A) a reboot of the series, and B) a backdoor pilot. Unfortunately, they get nearly everything wrong except the Doctor, as Paul McGann is FABULOUS and brings something very innocent and refreshing to the role. He only got the one shot at it, but he was brought back when Big Finish Productions got the rights to do audio plays for DW, and he's still an exceptional Doctor. Other Big Finish Doctors include Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy ^__^

It's no big deal save for that I don't have enough hours in the day to get what needs to be done, done. I've still got a draft for my English Composition class to bust out for tomorrow, with no time to do it tomorrow because work starts at six, ends at 11:30 and class starts at noon. And somewhere in there is sleep -__- But I know what you mean completely--it's EXTREMELY exciting when you find out someone is into the same stuff as you, esp. if it's such a small fandom like MGS. It's like permission to geek right the fuck out :D

Oh, I've heard many good things about Eight himself. :D Apparently in his books, he had The Best Companions (besides Ace). :D :D

That sums it up entirely, yes. :D I'll try to keep the MGS squee to a minimum, but once I get into TS, no promises. Plus, now I'm really tossing bunnies around. Really lame AUs are popping up in my mind. That's usually the first sign that I'm going to be infatuated with a fandom. >.>

Oh hell, I don't care about keeping squee to a minimum, THE MORE THE BETTER. I've never had anyone to chat with about MGS before!

You may want to wait until you finish the games, but [livejournal.com profile] firefly99 has some EXCELLENT MGS meta, esp. concerning Raiden, and Snake+Otacon's friend-relation-ship-thing.

And I promised MGS vid recs.

fun with the camera in the Tanker mission

Otacon's save quotes during the Tanker mission LOLS

the funniest exchange in MGS2, re: Snake and Otacon are married and apparently in very close vicinity of each other.

clips from MGS2, fairly plot-heavy, but I recommend skipping to 8:40 to see Otacon!artwork and Snake-in-disguise pretending he doesn't know the guy

And for your general MGS clip watching needs, this good man has the goods.
