Do you recommend it? I'm thinking about asking for it for Christmas (Grandmum's bitching about me being indecisive about what I want) and I read the first approx, 40 pages and it's been very interesting (and, briefly, rather scary- "Look at this page, don't look away whatever you do. Now, imagine a monster behind you. Listen for the silence." Very freaky to me.). Y/N?

Well, it's funny, because I saw your post and then remembered back to your reaction to ... some comic that I don't remember the details of at the moment, and I thought, "Good lord, oL is gonna kill her."

So ... yes, I recommend it. I love it. It's one of my favorite books. Just ... with the caveat that it may haunt you a bit. I like scary stuff, and even I turned all the lights in my house on a couple times while reading it the first time.

Oh god. I know what you mean and I don't even wanna say the name of the comic because it... Yeah, the visual at the end, seeing what happened kind of... damaged my soul. Which sounds weird, but it's the only way I can describe it. If I found the TARDIS, I'd ask the Doctor to help me go back in time and make sure I never saw it.

I think I'll ask for it. Text tends to not shake me the way visual stimuli does. Thanks for the two cents. I appreciate it!

....

:deeply sighs:

The translation of the title varies, but look up "amigara faults" and you should find it. It's a Japanese short comic.

Should you read it, please don't discuss it here. I wasn't kidding when I said how deeply it affected me. Reading it is at the top of my greatest regrets in life.

Ok, sorry. *hides*

(Oh, did you hear about David Tennant stepping down as 10 in 2009?)

yes I did when I was an undergrad. I don't remember it that well but I've been thinking about it recently and want to read it again. I remember it being a very odd, haunting book.

YES. That was an amazing, life-altering book for me. I'd definitely rec it to anyone ever ever.

(A bit over-enthusiastic, sorry. LOL.)

Yes. It took me two tries. But it's a wonderful mindfuck of a thing and I'm glad I persevered.

.... I was just looking through your Goodreads reviews to find a review from you. And then you comment. :eyes you suspiciously:

Thanks for the rec! Not to, yanno, invalidate any other commenters, but I have a lot of respect for your book opinions, so thank you kindly. :D I think I'll ask for it for Christmas now.

I mostly only review things I've read recently on GR, so it's not on there—I read it in high school? college? One of those. It's definitely not for everyone but I think it's well worth trying.

Also recommended: listening to Poe's album Haunted while you read it. Poe is Mark Z. Danielewski's sister, and the album and the book complement each other in interesting ways.

And thank you. :) I really like writing my little reviews, so it makes me really happy to learn that people like to read them. (Which reminds me: I am so far behind on my booklog omg.)
