I'm five minutes into Wanted (Mum's a Jolie fan) and I'm trying not to walk out on it. Wow, graituitous violence, sex, and a wholly unsympathetic character in record time.
I know most people had the same reaction to Wanted that you're having, but I saw it in theatres (my friend is a Jolie fan), and I kind of...enjoyed it. It was ridiculous and over the top and STUPID, but it sort of knew that, and just kept plugging away anyway. That sort of thing tends to amuse me. It was so mindless that I just sat back and let it wash over me.
Plus I'm a little attracted to James McAvoy, and even though Wanted is by far his worst film, I'm a bit biased.
In the graphic novel, Fox and Wesley are villains in a world without superheroes. They kill just because... At least they gave them some sort of purpose... but you're right, I had to be pretty tipsy to tolerate the movie when I saw it in theaters...
INORITE? ICK. I mean, I loved everything about Angelina Jolie and seeing Morgan Freeman as a villain and movies could always use more explosions, but the dialogue! I couldn't concentrate half the time because I was too busy going "Did they really, honestly, just say something that lame and mean it?" Especially the ending. What a terrible line to end a movie with. I mean, why couldn't he have just smirked, or something? I almost walked out, and I'm pretty hard to annoy in movies.

McAvoy does have beautiful eyes, I will give him that.
