I just... I.... :hysterical laughter: I really really thought I had a chance with this one and come to find out they hire someone else without even giving me a job interview. Months of work for fucking nothing again. It's been a good year since I started job hunting and I've never even had an interview. All I wanted was to have one fucking job by the time Mum got home so I could show myself to be not a complete failure at everything. BUT I AM, COME TO FIND OUT.

Days like this, I just want to pop open the liquor cabinet, teetotalism be damned. There's a nice looking banana thing in there, maybe I'll try that.

Job hunting is really difficult in the current economy. The only thing you can really do is send out your resume to like five different places every day and hope for a response back -- experience can be a real bitch, though. I love it when bosses say "we'd like someone with more experience"; how exactly can you get experience if no one will hire you? Hah.

This is the most awful job market in ages. Last summer I applied for another job in my company, and I found out that 500 people applied! People with master's and Ph.D's in that area of work! You're fighting for jobs with adults, probably with degrees who've had to lower themselves to work for minimum wage.

It's not you. Really.

Edited to add: Here! I have proof! Check out this LJ entry on one of my other friends' pages. He went to a job fair in Arizona yesterday. Between 16 and 18 thousand people showed up.

My worthless advice: a) apply for jobs in as many different sectors as you can bear to, and b) suck up to employment agencies, as in some towns they control every single viable job. But the constant fucking letdowns, I couldn't blame you if you hit the liquor - I just hope your luck turns soon.

Sorry about the job Luce. :( All you can do is apply everywhere and hope for the best. Half of my friends here are in the same boat, so you're not alone and you are NOT a failure. I know everything will work out for you. :3
