[insert sob-filled whining about job hunting, nearly getting hit by a car, and wanting to scream a lot]

I've been meaning to overhaul my layout's rolling header for a while. Finally have a good idea for it. Whooo.

Also, I've been writing cracked out high school AU for some wrong, every time I look at the google doc, I cannot tell who's IC, who's not, and whether or not the whole thing is awesome or stupid. Oh well. I like it. Writing it made me like Liquid and ship him with Emma. No, not kidding.

Heh. I'm listening to an Of Montreal song, "Bunny Ain't No Kind of Rider" with the chorus, Eva, I'm sorry, but you will never have me/to me you're just some faggy girl/and I need a lover with soul power. And I'm thinking Adamska/EVA, of all things. :amused: Actually, lyrically, it's more of a Hal song if he didn't let Naomi seduce him. BUT HE DID.

OH MAN AND I AM A MORON. YANNO THE DECEMBERISTS' SONG "CHIMBLEY SWEEP"? I JUST FIGURED OUT THAT HE WASN'T ACTUALLY A CHIMBLEY SWEEP.

Yes, I am a colossal moron. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] vinylsigns? I got around to listening to the Philly live show you shared a while ago and it's orgasmically good. Thank you so much. ♥

I've been wondering for a while how to do rolling headers :D

It's not exactly that he wasn't a chimbley sweep, but what he swept, hurrhurr.

Ugh, effing gorgeous, right? You're very welcome. And guess what I found stuffed in my jeans drawer just yesterday? The sketchbook I bought you for the Xmas exchange :-) Popping that in the mail in the next few days, then.

(Psst. Seeing Andrew Bird tomorrow. Be jealousssss.)

I have no idea, actually. Someone handed me the code, said "put ur header urls here, yo" and I did. :D

Got, the stage banter in the concert is fabulous. I love when they get chatty. And the audience participation. "Everybody on the floor! ... Oh, come on! It's not that dirty, they just mopped it, I just watched them!"

And the ending of "Sons and Daughters", with the audience just belting out the final lyric with Colin egging them on. So beautiful.

COLIN CALLED OBAMA A CHEAP TRICK, Y/N?

Whooo, sketchbook~ :3 :3 :3

(DSHGJKFHKJF I WANT DETAILS. YOU BETTER DO A LONG POST ABOUT IT. I MEAN IT.)

And about Nate wearing the hat for a little Southern flavor, in the spirit of bipartisanship? LOL. There stage banter really truly IS the best thing ever. Put your arms around each other. Swear to god, I'm serious, PUT YOUR ARMS AROUND EACH OTHER.

How about the fake Russian dance? Or Colin's shoe-tying samba <3

(You shall get it, and I shall attempt to capture vid/pictures. fufufufu)

I couldn't see what they were wearing, yo. :( But the hugging thing? THAT WAS SO FUCKING FUNNY. He is so demanding. I feel so prepared to see them live- I will just follow orders. ♥ And the daaaance! "Come on, you all have to agree!" Pfthahaha!

And wow, I'd never heard "Culling of the Fold" before and it's... like... ridiculously sexy for a song about murdering people for no reason. :O

(I love you. ♥ God, I hope he does "Anonanimal" when I go see him.)

Their live shows really are something else. As with the Philadelphia Factory recording you ave, when I saw them in LA last November, the intro was that track from The Shining, segueing into Shanty for the Arethusa :D Oh man, during Sons & Daughters, Colin actually went crazy and started pulling people on stage for the final singalong. Fanboys and girls were freaking the fuck out XD

Innit though? I mean, this is coming from someone who really doesn't like the studio recording of it. Suddenly, they speed it up and Colin is stealing people's cell phones (and calling random numbers in the address books), running and jumping and petting some audience members' hair and generally being ridiculously cute and the song is a million times better :D Every time he sings "ply her heart with gold and silver", my knees get a little wobbly.

(Oh yes, it seems to be a staple of the Noble Beast tour :-P Review of the show last night is forthcoming, my duckie)

Shit. The Decemberists are now on my list of Acts To See (with Bird, Ben Muthafuckken Folds, and the Scissor Sisters).

I finally heard the studio version of "CotF" yesterday and it is, well... um... it totally sucks. I literally cannot stand it unless it's live. It needs that creepy jubilant feel to it.

And um hooooly crap I just listened to the Colin Meloy solo thing and two things I'm stuck on: the last minute of "California One/Youth and Beauty Brigade", that added on little lyric, is so heartrending and beautiful, it hurts me. And the fact that the audience did the last line of "Cautionary Tale" so well, it was hilarious, how he just stopped at "remem-". ♥ I may be in love with him a little.

DEFINITELY. Possibly the best live band I've seen. Besides ♥Andrew♥

Ugh, the suck of that recording is so inversely proportionate to The Decemberists' win that it hurts to think about it D:

That live album is pretty much amazing, is it not? It's the instant cure-all. And Colin is just so endearingly weird and dorky that you really have no choice but to adore him. When I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl, he requested that everyone hold up their cell phones (like the rock concert lighter trope), remarking, "Wow, it looks like my bedroom ceiling when I was in sixth grade." <3

(review is posted :D)

Hooray for overhaul!

CLEARLY YOU MEAN AWESOME.
Heh, the gdoc still crashes my internet, so I can't comment on the hideous amazing characterization.

Haha, I win, I made you love the shirtless wonder. :D
