So I spent the last.... five hours cleaning the living room. I mean, really cleaning. The type of cleaning that means your hands absorb enough orange cleaner that you smell like citrus the rest of the day.
As usual, I'm listening to music as I clean. Two random thoughts of the B. Folds variety:
Back to cleaning.

As usual, I'm listening to music as I clean. Two random thoughts of the B. Folds variety:
- I poured my heart out/it evaporated/see? is perhaps the most painful line I've ever heard in a song. Especially the WASO version, where he almost laughs after singing it, like it's a cold, horrible joke. I love that.
- It never occurred to me that Sara spelled without an 'h' and Zak without a 'c' know each other. Apparently on SongMeanings the theory is that he hits her or something (lol wut?) but... When I hear the song, I never think they're together or are even acquainted. I think Sara's just chilling on a PV amp in a store when this young guy Zak strolls in and browses the guitars and starts playing her favorite song, and she claps. Am I missing a line that establishes that they do know each other? Or is that just assumed by everyone other than me?
Back to cleaning.

The second time I listened through, I thought I had the lyrics right, and I thought that Zak was the friendly salesman that was carrying around his guitar, and Sara invited him in to play.
Then I went to go look up the lyrics, and everything I thought was a lie.
So now I'm just confused againI think you can see it either way, though.(no subject)

The kind of voices she would soon learn to deny
Because at home they got her smacked
I believe is the phrasing that leads them to believe so. Also one verse sounds like she might be in the hospital.
