Ooooh, so apparently the next MGS is gonna be a Raiden game. Okay. :nods: I can go with that.

Watch, it'll be a clone of Raiden that only exists in the the old databanks of the Patriot AIs until it's uploaded into some poor sap who happens to use third gen nanos.

Or something.

Dude.

MGS that takes place between MGS2 and MGS4. You play as various members of Philanthropy, Olga, Raiden, etc.

That'd be fricken sweet.

Wasn't Olga kinda dead by then? Like that matters :) But yes, that would be sweeter than a post-MGS4 game, by far. :/ *sigh* given all the broadside attempts MGS4 made to undermine its entire genre, I REALLY hoped they'd put it to bed...but so long as it's not really tangled with the 2/3/4 overplot, I could cope. But the movie needs to die in production already srsly.

Like.... post-Tanker too? Wait no, Olga didn't know about Snake and Otacon saving her until the Big Shell. Shit. Plus Kojima will never let us play as a strong woman. :|

Honestly, the only good MGS5 idea I've heard is the crazy one [livejournal.com profile] technophile thought up.

Dayter didn't get the chance to write it, huh? :( If it was in Dayter's hands, I'd be slightly excited. He's so One Of Us.

She didn't know until Big Shell? I'd clean forgotten that. Which just shows how badly I need to replay MGS2. What was [livejournal.com profile] technophile's idea? I'd kill for an MG2 do-over, not that I'm a batshipper or anything like that WHAT ME NEVER.

Dayter was hinting in interviews recently that he was indeed getting involved. But Dayter has been cursed by Alan Moore, so hey. :)

:searches through her ridiculous amount of MGS links: His awesome idea.

Yeah, Olga didn't know until her and Snake talked at the Shell. I'd love to see both MG games combined and redone since that may be the only way I'll ever play them. >.>

I try not to think about Alan Moore. He's magical in the same way Gaiman is, but it's like he's the Dark Archetype to Gaiman's Time Lord-esque magical awesome.

If we're picking sides I am so, so with Team Moore. Sorry. I like Gaiman well enough, but he doesn't hit me deep down the way Moore does.

That is an awesome idea. I'm also struck by what Fly said, though: "...as I love Raiden, I'd rather not play as him again - part of me would love to, but MGS2 and 4 basically scream 'he doesn't need you to control him any more'. Kojima loves protagonists who are badass but require your protection due to inexperience, or weakness, or emotional vulnerability, or sheer deludedness. In order to make him 'controllable' he'll have to undergo a hell of a lot of crap to bring him back down to that level (the same way Snake was aged up so we could play as him again) and I don't want him to suffer any more. I just want them to LEAVE RAIDEN ALONE." I mean. In that context. A main character who is literally crying out to be made to suffer would be how awesome? God, I want a Frank!game. So bad. And that makes me a horrible person. And I don't care. :)

I've loved him since MGS1, but yeah, PSP is worth it just for Gray Fox. (I played MPO unspoiled, and was totally dim about it, got massively creeped out by Null who was pushing so many of my buttons - his lack of memories and doubts, his shredding-machineness - and god, he was hard to beat...and then the "I know your name" scene completely landed me on my ass. Fox love.) There's also Metal Gear 2, in which he is the most badass creepy stalker ex-boyfriend Snake could ask for. Baaaw.
