Persona 3 is darker, but not as user friendly or hilarious as 4 though. You can't go wrong either way.

Yes, that's the one. Funny the that the reviews never mention things like that; I imagine that they'd seal the deal for a lot of people. Because, seriously.

Shin Megami Tensei games are terribly awesome. I'm currently playing Persona 4, and loving it :D P3 and P4 are kind of equally good in my book, though P3 is more plot-based while P4 is more about the characters and their growth.

P3 honestly bored me. I haven't bothered to finish it. None of the characters interested me much, and everything moves so damned slowly, like the painstaking discovery that perhaps the full moon has something to do with events happening. GEE I FIGURED THAT OUT IN THE FIRST FIVE SECONDS OF THE GAME WHEN THERE WAS A DAYS TO NEXT FULL MOON COUNTER IN THE CORNER.

P4 is still rather slow paced, but it has Kanji Tatsumi.

Again, no desire to play P3. The Evoker imagery aside, nothing too interesting, and like most SMT, you're the messiah and have the kill god. P4 actually looks interesting and I have to admit, eeee Dojima~! ♥ So coooool yet laaaaame.
