1. Where the hell is the next Scissor Sisters album? I miss them.

2. Where the hell is Half-Life 2: Episode 3? FFS, episodic gaming does not mean "a two-hour game that apparently takes as long as a 40 hours game to produce". Maybe it's because I worship Insomniac who, IIRC, never took more than two years to put out a full, new, amazing game, but COME ON VALVE. You are the lord god king of game companies now, FINISH THE SERIES THAT MADE YOU SO.

3. P4 is still awesome, gay, and fun.

WARNING: INCOMING SRS BNS

4. Game Informer is moronic and should never, ever be taken seriously. Top 200 games of all time and you put BioShock at 27 and System Shock 2 at 105?! I guess I don't really understand how they're grading this. Top 200 influential games? Selling games? Most fun to play? I just don't get it. You've got a bunch near the top that defined their genres, and then you have a bunch of really popular ones. Er, okay, I guess?

Final Fantasy VII is waaaaay too high. I haven't played III, but I don't know if I'd pick that one to be the best representation of the preVII ones. IV or VI maybe, but III? Lame. I liked XII a lot, because it was getting away from the whiny emo plauge that is Tetsuya Nomura to the series. Also: Xenosaga? Really? Nno.

Silent Hill 2 and Pokemon are pretty low considering how influential they were to their genres, but I'm glad to see that some of my faves like Okami and Ico made the list. And then there's the old school gyms like Dig Dug, Marble Madness, Castlevania ,Civilization and Wolfenstein 3D.

Can't really speak for the FPS stuff since I don't really play it, though *shrugs* Portal's about the only one I did (It got me interested in Half Life, but I failed at that one pretty hard) if anything, but I know it doesn't really count as far as FPSes go.

I see that all the MGS games made the cut. :]

That's my biggest issue with it. It's just a Top 200. Grading by what? Innovation, best despite aging, sales, what? The list is positively schizophrenic.

I agree on FFVII, but I found it hideously boring, so. I think the one (and I suck at the numbering for these games so) with Terra might've been the best? vOv

People say MGS is more movie than game. Those people never played Xenosaga, obviously.

I WAS THINKING THE SAME ABOUT SH2. I mean, I will NEVER play it as I am a coward, but even I can recognize how it really changed the idea that games couldn't be deep. That alone should get it in the top 20.

Just... just know that their rankings for FPS games hurts me more than anything else about this list. It's like this is a game magazine run by a ton of people who know nothing about gaming history. DEUS EX. HELLO. I would put DE in the top five or ten. It's not only possibly the most important FPS game since Wolfenstein, it still holds up well today. It's on GameTap for free and I played the shit out of it. Very much still relevant and fun.

IDK, I think the MGS games in order of awesome are MGS1, MGS3, and MGS2. MGS4 still doesn't exist.

ALSO ALSO: THERE IS A DISTINCT LACK OF SCHAFER ON THIS LIST. What, Miyamoto gets 90% of the list and Schafer gets ONE SPOT? Hello, MONKEY ISLAND? GRIM FANDANGO? PSYCHONAUTS?

God, I hate this list. :rants:

To be totally fair, Miyamoto has made about 90 times more games than Schaefer.

True, but all of Schafer's games have much more originality than anything Miyamoto has made since... probably 2002 with Eternal Darkness, according to his resume.

I just like ranting about dumb things and this list is super dumb.

Whoops, I guess they were talking about VI. I fail at the American numbering (and spelling 'gems'), DERP.

Oh. I'm a total baby when it comes to horror games, too. I've been trying to find a good SH2 LP forever, but all I've found is that guy who plays them blind, and he's kind of annoying. I'm watching Siren right now (it's taking up my time until Chip and Ironicus do MGS2), and it's not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Hmm, I'll have to try it out, then. I pretty much fail at FPS games, but it's worth a shot?

Of course. Even if it is super fun to snipe the night away in the Mideast level My list's probably MGS3, 2, and then 1, because I suck so hard at 1. Maybe TTS controls would be easier?

I KNOW, GRIM FANDAAAANGOOOOOO<3<3<3 I haven't played Psychonauts, but Yatzee's review made me want to a lot.

When they're talking about FF2 and FF3 for the SNES, they're referring to FFIV and FFVI, respectively.

My personal annoyance is that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion beat out Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Morrowind was superior in damn near every way. Morrowind would allow you to break the main quest if you killed off certain characters, but it still allowed you to beat the game through a ridiculously convoluted back way. HOW AWESOME IS THAT? Oblivion will only let you knock out characters integral to the main quest line. Stupid dumbing down for console players.

Interesting that they had the guts to put MGS2 on so high, considering how it got so defined by the backlash. I would disagree with MGS3 being down so far, since, much as I love 2 and its ambition, 3 is a much more well rounded and complete game.

These lists are nothing but endless fodder for spazzy fangirl opinions. I will restrain mine. I will remain reasonable. I will be strong.

I totally see P:T. I've been meaning to find a copy for ages. But, Infamous hasn't been out long and this may be just my pet peeve, but I don't think any of these lists should use recent games. The "best" games require a bit of longevity and you just cannot gauge that when somethings only been out a few months. And it takes time for initial new game excitement to fade, so how can it be an honest choice?

I wish I had a copy of the magazine. You just KNOW they'll have the MGS2 bit with one of the usual "DESPITE THE FACT THAT YOU PLAYED THE GIRLY MAN" caveats. I hate those. 8|

I agree completely. What's awesome this second isn't necessarily going to be so great in the cold light of a year from now.

I mean P:T, one of the most wonderfully written games ever, being underneath some piece of standard issue software so forgettable that within the week it was out it was defined as "the one of those two games that are pretty much the same that isn't Prototype." granted, Prototype is the one I played, but that one underwhelmed the hell out of me.

It says a lot about everything that America panics so badly when they see a pretty man with long hair. We are, as a nation, so very insecure in our masculinity. It's annoying.

Snake Eater and Guns of the Patriots ought to be switched, for one (though I'm happy the entire core canon made it in there).

Also, where are Persona 3 and 4. Bullshit.

Finally, Okami deserves to be FUCKTONS higher than 83.

Fucking biased list, you fuckers.
