Mum and I were discussing the gay controversy of Mass Effect 2, which lead to talking about queers in games, which lead to minorities in games in general.

Yes, I realize my mother is awesome.

BUT ANYWAY she asked me a question I had no answer to so she wanted me to ask the FList.

Are there any little people in games outside halflings, dwarves, and the like? I've wracked my brain with no results.

No, they don't. Magical creatures are not what I mean. I've been looking and can't find evidence of any little people in gaming. 8(

I'm unsure if the guy from Bayonetta is one, or if Bayonetta is just so freakishly tall that he looks like a little person. And you can't forget Willow, the game!

Well...first off if you're not counting out non-human species that subtracts alot of them. Alot of smaller characters tend to be like Munch from the Abe's odyssey series, not so human. Plus you can't pick up a traditional western Fantasy game without hitting a dwarf. As I recall in one of my all time favorite games, Golden Axe (or was it Golden Axe two?) The big strong brute with the axe carried a midget on his back and (Spoiler) The midget sacrifices himself in the end to save them all.

Continuing in that vain there was an evil dead game starring Bruce Campbell reprising his role as Ash and in that game you teamed up with a half Deadite half human midget with a bad attitude. Said midget was used as canon fodder in puzzles and combat because he could keep coming back to life.

I did find it particularly amusing in Morrowind the first time I played a wood elf and realized I had to look up at everyone.

And finally...it is in my opinion that Mario Mario of the Mario brothers is himself in fact if not a midget, then close. He is tragically shorter then the rest of his cast taller only then the tiny race of Toads and Bowser's assorted cronies. When compared to other humans in the worlds he's in he's always stumpy by comparative.

This is the first and only time I've ever wanted to play Morrowind. Nice attention to detail, Bethesda Studios.

I really enjoyed Morrowind actually but I had the PC version. The reason that's important to note is it came with a programming disc and that meant that for me the best part of the game was the user made content. I had a massive underwater lair with beautiful artwork and a healthy supply of booze (Said booze used magic spell effects to make your character drunk) Rambo was my butler (He organized my loot for me and made explosive arrows for me) I had heavy metal fetish gear style armor (Heavy metal the music not the weight of my armor) A pirate ship that could shoot cannonballs at things, and so on.

Oh yes and the weapons, Liacore the talking sword, Final Fantasy Vincents soul stealing gauntlet, the Zanbatou from Raroni Kenshin or however that series is spelled...
