So Beast Below was... underwhelming. Anyone else get the impression the Grand Moff just wanted to make a profound statement about the Doctor and just wrote his episode around that? Felt kinda shoe-horned. And too fast. And since when does Amelia know so damn much about the Doctor? She's only just met him!

I will say, Liz Ten was totally awesome and I loved her. Mrrrrow.

Ella asked me yesterday if I had to choose between love and money, what I would pick. I picked money and I'm wondering if that makes me a bad person. I'm not a fan of romantic love really and I suppose my family situation colors my choice, but. I think living in comfort and not having to constantly worry about finances would bring me more happiness and peace than a lover (and even writing that word makes me frown, it seems so trite). I'd make it easier to get though day to day. IDK, just thinking aloud.

ETA: Out of nowhere, my copy of "Songs of a Dying Atheist" decided to corrupt and now thinks it's only about :45 long. Anyone have a spare copy around? Which reminds me, I have a lot more music than a few months ago, I should upload them.

For what it's worth, your preference sounds totally reasonable and not at all bad-person-making to me. :)

I'd probably pick the same thing in most situations tbh.

no, this is very likely the case, though I can't say I disliked the idea it poses about the Doctor, contrasting with one of the last character analyses made about him in The End of Time ("I've killed people...Then I got clever. Tricked people into taking their own lives." damn that's depressing.) The Doctor now having been tortured, but it making him kind is such a fantastic turnaround from him (particularly Ten) being dragged into the mud by circumstance and then residing there. Big Doctor-y metaphor for Ten and Eleven? Ten was the recipient of many tortures, Eleven came out kind because of it.

That's a very nice thought and I totally agree.

I just wish the episode handled it better. 8\ Since when does the Grand Moff forget the great rule of Show, Don't Tell?

It was unusually sloppy of the Moff; he puts great care into his plots, but before he's only had to do one or two parters, and now there's considerably more he has to deal with.

ALSO THE BIG FLASH OF THE CRACK AT THE END TOO. lol subtle, it was not.

Yeah, I admit I bawled like a little girl at the end because there's something about SUFFERING~ and DOG SHOOTING~ that just GETS ME every time, but mostly I liked that episode for the faptacular art direction and the even more faptacular Liz Ten.

Honestly, if that episode had about 25% more Liz Ten, I would have no complaints. She hit every button I had. Guh.
