And I gotta make sure I don't majorly fuck up the canon. Imma reading as fast as I can (halfway through Summer Knight, have the next two ready next).

HE IS. Have I mentioned I've tried about four times to watch the show on Netflix and I can never make it through more than a few minutes because the WRONG WRONG WRONG OH GOD WRONGness of it?

I had the rather good fortune to have the show act as my gateway to the books rather than the other way. I haven't tried to watch it again since then, but I'm also pretty good at appreciating adaptations on their own merits and not comparing them too strictly to the original work.

I was not so lucky. It kills me because I can tell that if I never read the books, I could really love that show as campy fun urban fantasy on a low budget. But... I have read the books. And I keep going THAT IS NOT MURPHY, WHERE IS MARCONE, I MISS MICHAEL and such.

I wishfully tell myself that it could have gotten so much better if they'd had more than half a season to develop things.

I will admit what little I saw of Bob was awesome. Different, but awesome.

I am willing to admit that I will put up with every bit of the adaptation decay for Terence Mann as Bob. I ♥ him a lot.
