So remember when I whinged at Christmas because Grandmum got me a Nintendo Wii that I had no idea what to do with because I'm an actual core gamer, not a casual gamer?

I just rewired the entire entertainment shelf thingie (not worth calling a "unit") and on a whim I hooked the Wii up too.

It's... well... It's a Wii. It comes with Wii Sports and the New Super Mario Brothers Wii thing. I'm installing the Internet Channel so I can at least check mail and stuff on it. I'm surprised by the smoothness of the motion controls so far, but when you build your console on such a gimmick, you better do it well.

S-so um.... What now? Anyone have one of these things?

Mario Kart? The husband seems to really like that. All I use it for is Wii Fit, which is kind of hilarious, but better than trying to go outside in the winter.

I am not a fan of Nintendo's pantheon of mascots. Hrm.

I played Okami on Wii, which was amazing though the combats got repetitive. I did a bit of Super Mario Galaxy too, which is awesome and I really should finish it sometime.

I did Okami on the PS2... IDK I might grab Cave Story and some virtual marketplace stuff? I don't like Nintendo's first party games. :sigh:

I think the most important Wii accessory is, hands down, someone to play with. I have Donkey Kong and Wii Fit, which are good for playing alone, but Mario Kart, Guitar Hero, and Wii Sports are definitely better with someone. I think you can use the online thing to find people for at least Mario Kart, but I really prefer playing with someone I know, either online or in person.
