Sep. 5th, 2011 01:20 pmffff want to work on Bakery AU, but I am actually too cheerful to do so. Boo hiss.
Instead, let's do this: Ask me about a character I write and I will give you my headcanon for them. (If you want to specify which ficverse, that's cool too.

Also, it's not Marcone stealing the coke from the fridge. It's Mister. (My MoC crack fanon)
Last one! Hendricks reads him drafts of his essays."
Grene is awesome, long live the Grene.

Date: 2011-09-05 07:38 pm (UTC)Tulane!
Date: 2011-09-05 08:00 pm (UTC)1. Originally hails from NOLA and has family down there. Got mixed up in the supernatural when some voodoo practitioner got it out for him and he had to flee home. No one would believe him about why he had to leave home until he stumbled into Chicago.
2. Has known Hendricks for years, from before Marcone's rise. He got a good reputation with Marcone through Hendricks. He's not actually inclined towards crime and refuses to take assignments that are expressly illegal. He is very capable though. Thus: defending the mansion.
3. Makes Hendricks sound verbose. Tulane is always quiet. No one knows about this home life or if he's in a relationship or anything about him. That suits him fine.
4. One person he does talk to is Bob. Or, he lets Bob makes a million wisecracks about Tulane being a glorified maid and a mute and needing to loosen up, and Tulane occasionally smiles in response.
5. He's so guarded, most folks don't know his full name. No one's sure if "Tulane" is a first or last name and no one wants to ask, because it's awkward to work with a guy for years and not know his name.
6. This includes Marcone. He knows he's heard Tulane's full name, but forgot at some point, and feels that looking it up in his personnel files would be an admission of defeat. He'll remember it eventually.
7. If asked, Harry would insist that Tulane is first/last all in one, like Madonna or Prince.
DONAR! because I don't think we'll actually see much of him in the bakery AU, sadly, so why not
1. Was just born with a bad eye, guys. He does enjoy the many, many mythic stories the new associates and paralegals come up with to explain his eyepatch though.
2. Is the real face of the firm, because he has a more friendly, paternal presence (at least, as compared to Marcone). On the flipside, he's one of the few people who sees Marcone as the big softie he is.
3. He keeps a box of crayons and drawing paper in his desk in case Ivy shows up while her father's busy. He misses having his own children at home and often tells Marcone that Ivy's going to grow up too fast for his liking.
4. Doesn't take many cases himself, but when he does, the opposition tends to settle as quickly as possible to avoid going against him. Donar finds this disappointing since he rarely gets the chance to be in the thick of it in a courtroom.
5. He doesn't show up at the bakery because his usual after-hours haunt is Mac's. But he is a fan of Harry's baking through the things Mac gets from Stars and Scones.

Date: 2011-09-05 08:23 pm (UTC)"How is your baker?"
"He is *vocally* not my- "
"Oh Jonathan."
coversations in that firm :-D
And Tulane the hyper-competent not a law breaker makes me happy, him and Hendricks would be the most laid back drinking buddies ever, just people watching in the bar.
Re: Tulane!
Date: 2011-09-05 09:12 pm (UTC)I think Tulane can snark with his eyes. And when Hendricks starts to crush on Gard, Tulane gives him so much shit for it.

Date: 2011-09-05 09:36 pm (UTC)BOB!
1. He really did not give a fuck about anyone or anything in the Justin era. If it didn't affect him directly, he didn't care. But watching Justin's sick toying with Elaine and Harry broke something in him and the night Harry got that scar on his arm was the worst and best of his life. He had to call the cops to stop a teenager's suicide attempt but it snapped him out of his selfish haze.
2. Bob wasn't quite as down on his luck as Harry thought when he started working for Harry. He'd worked exclusively as a tutor for upper class families for a long time and had plenty of savings and people who owed him favors. But Harry was drowning, and Bob couldn't just watch that happen.
3. Guilt guilt guilt guilt guiiiiilt.
4. He's a lech, but he never leads someone on. When he spends the night with someone, they know ahead of time it's a one-time thing, and that suits both of them fine.
5. He ships Harry/Marcone, if only because he thinks Marcone has the resources to keep Harry from breaking down, so if Marcone takes over, Bob can let go of some of that responsibility towards Harry. Of course, Bob believes this makes him a phenomenal asshole, for wanting to foist Harry off onto someone else. But hey, Marcone wants him, he can have him.
6. That said, if Marcone (or anyone) breaks Harry's heart again, asses will be kicked.
IVY (aka Ivy and her Father)
1. She's adopted. Back in NYC, John took a pro bono case to improve his visibility and met her in the process. They fell mutually in love and clicked more than she and her foster family clicked, so he adopted her. He got out of the organized crime rings in New York because of her.
2. She had a minor crush on Harry when they first met. Then she realized her father had a massive crush on Harry and that was far more interesting to pursue. Watching John try to court Harry is really funny to her.
3. She feels a kinship to Harry, as they both have really bad backgrounds. They'll never talk about it, but it does color how she sees him.
4. She owns every Disney animated/CGI movie. Like, all of them. When Disney releases a new one, John has to take her opening day or she will sulk up a storm.
5. In the early days of being adopted, she had nightmares about being moved or taken away. She slept fitfully in John's bed. When she has nightmares, she'll go nap in his bed while he's at the office.
6. Cats are not allowed in their building. Ivy thinks they should find a new place and is slowly whittling her father down on the subject.

Date: 2011-09-06 12:07 am (UTC)IVYYYYYYY. ♥ I love the adoption thing so, so much. Broken people finding each other! Hello bulletproof kink.
Re: 4, I want to know what John's reaction to Up was (presuming Pixar falls under the heading of Disney here).

Date: 2011-09-05 10:38 pm (UTC)1. Murph's dating Luccio, but very quiet about it. It's no one else's business who she is or isn't with. It's very casual, but has been going on a long while.
2. Her family's not happy about her running an akido studio. It seems so violent for a young lady-- and whenever she tries to explain how akido really isn't, no one seems to listen.
3. Is not actually big on the bakery thing! A few cupcakes now and then, some really good fresh bread, sure, but she enjoys the atmosphere of the bakery more than its actual output. That's why she drinks the tea instead of the coffee and has fruit bowls and yogurts and other stuff Harry's picked up at Whole Foods just for her.
4. That said, if Harry puts fondant on her motorcycle ever again, she's going to fucking kill him. Her bike was sticky for a week.
MOLLY
1. Thanks to Harry, she can bake, but she cannot cook. Cooking requires too much improvisation and interpretation. Baking is like edible chemistry.
2. She invites Harry over for the holidays all the time. He usually says no. Molly used to take it personally, but Bob sat her down one day and explained about Harry having issues.
3. Sometimes, she just wishes Harry would get over it.
4. She met Carlos in Spanish class, which he was taking just to boost his GPA. They got assigned to the same project one day, performed a scene from Romeo and Juliet translated into Spanish, and got really into it.
5. Charity made her get a job at the bakery after she almost got expelled by Principal Morgan. It's supposed to teacher her discipline and responsibility. Mostly, it nets her more spending money, less free time after school, and now she can make awesome cookies.
