Finals are mostly wrapped. I have two more class periods left, but all the hard stuff is done. It was really rough last week, but I made it! I'm even fairly happy about the results of my biggest project. Note to self: Next time, don't volunteer to work solo. Doing the work of 3 people sucks.

As a reward to myself (and to Mum for putting up with my end-of-semester panic), we picked up Mass Effect so we could play through the entire series, start to finish. This one is gonna be the Golden Run for ME3 (in theory-- I still kinda like the playthrough where I romanced Liara, then Garrus; yay bisexual/pansexual Shepard!).

I've been playing on Veteran, the hard mode for ME1. And I've been really bored out of my fucking skull. Like... I could leave my teammates on the ship and do every mission myself. I have never had any issue with any fight. In fact, I've been really pissed at my teammates for not pulling their damn weight. WREX, YOU ARE A KROGAN. KICK MORE ASS PLZ?

I keep wanting to bump the difficulty up to Hardcore, but apparently I haven't unlocked it. What, clearing out an entire room of Geth solo in thirty seconds doesn't mean I'm ready for Hardcore?! Come on.

I haven't even needed my sniper rifle. I just kill everything with my pistol. It's pathetic. 8(

And this isn't me saying HA HA I AM THE GREATEST GAMER EVAR. No, this is me saying, BioWare, the difficulty spike between ME1 and ME2 is fucking ridiculous. Do better with ME2 -> ME3.

(PS: Where the fuck is our FemShep trailer? YOU PROMISED, BIOWARE.)


On the flipside, I now want to RP a Paragon Shep somewhere. Could be super fun. Can't think of a witty username tho. And I can't find any pics of a black FemShep, and I'm sorry, but Adelaide Shepard is black, bald, and the nicest badass you've ever met.

heh. My Shep's Lucrezia. :D I won't be able to be around my Game Player (My hand to eye is LOUSY) for ME3 when it comes out, so I'm a little sad face about that. I totally can't wait for the femshep trailer! Eee! I don't even care if they give in and put "Ride of the Valkyries' over it, it'll be awesome.

The eternal question: Thane or Garrus?

Garrus! While biologically more of an issue, depending on how particular dextro-proteins react to levo-tuned systems and vise-versa, Garrus and Shepard have a lot more in common and think in similar ways. They both belong to military organizations and have negotiating those structure for a long time, so they can understand each other on those levels even if other ways fail.

Also, Garrus is a sweetie and Thane always struck me as one of the worst pseudo-midlife crisis metaphors. Oh, Wah, you paid more attention to your job than your family and now they hate you. SUCK IT UP BUB, YOU MADE THOSE CHOICES. His situation is closer to Samara's, and I rather think they'd make a much better couple.

Although I am up for discussion if you think I'm being Wrong On The Internet. :D

I LOVE ME SOME GARRUS, OKAY. We are gonna get married and adopt Grunt and be space vigilantes together. ♥ I genuinely love his character arc and am glad there was two games to develop that romance arc.

You may accuse me of being wrong on the internet, as someone at Bioware Confession posted this and it was my lightbulb! moment for why I cannot stand Thane. That and how he calls you Siha even if you don't romance him. CREEPY MUCH?

Augh, Yes. I didn't see that part before you pointed out the marcro either, but they took the psuedo-Buddhist thing and stuck it in one of the creepiest lights. It's weird? I sort of liked the character after you got more of his backstory, (and I got hit by the wall o' fanfic) but never as a healthy romantic partner. Dude needs to pull back and look at his life, look at his choices. Like an addict! If you can keep a plant alive for a year, then get a dog, ect, etc, etc.

Grunt's goddamn fascinating. I can never tell how much of his KILL ALL THE THINGS! is because of his programming, and how much is instinctual. He's some fascinating case-study for Nature VS. Nurture.

I am just super uncomfortable with his whole "I'm just a weapon" thing. IDK, that's too much like the Nuremberg Defense for my tastes. Just because your following orders doesn't make you blameless.

Grunt is maybe my favorite after Garrus. Tied with Mordin, probably. He's violent like the Krogan lean towards being, but he does it for his own reasons. I love that at first he just fights to fight, but later he is SO HAPPY to tell his mommy Shep that he's discovering reasons to fight. LOOK MA, ARE YOU PROUD? 8D 8D 8D ilu Grunt, srsly

Bioware _always_ has difficulty with the difficulty of the first in a series. But what do you mean by "Golden Run"?

Golden Run = the full playthrough wherein I do every side-mission, nail every Paragon action, hit on the right people, and hopefully just do everything right. It'll be the file I import into ME3 for the run where I try to get the Golden Ending (apparently if you do everything right, there is a brilliant ending).

Hell, playing as a rogue in DA:O is bad enough. The Fade was legitimately impossible. I had to drop the difficulty to Casual to make it through. Fucking balancing issues...

Golden Runs are also sometimes called Canon Runs for games like these, as people consider them their canon play-throughs.

No, it's fair. I've pretty successfully removed "retard" and such from my vocab. Gendered language is next up. It's a lot harder though, IMO, since it's so systematic in society. :sighs:
