Music Sharing Post
I DL fanmixes and random music I see a lot. I have a large collection. So, why not share a bit?

So, feel free to snag. And, please, if you have any songs you really love, upload and share them in the comments.

Here we go!

"Unmade Bed" - Sonic Youth
My current favorite song. I think Rivier was the one to upload it originally. I love it, it's dark and cold and makes me write screwed-up romance. Also, for SGA fen, it's the perfect John song.

"Hey Pretty" - Poe
Awesome song that makes me picture scifi things. A person who can create worlds with her mind.

"Baby Got Back" - Jonathan Coulton
Just how awesome is this cat? He's done the Evil Genius Love Song ("Skullcrusher Mountain"), the I *heart* My Laptop Ballad ("A Laptop Like You"), the Rockin' Maths Song ("Mandelbrot Set"), and he's turned "Baby Got Back" into a fairly touching love song. How he can sing it so earnestly... I dunno, he's a demi-god or something.

"Brick" - Ben Folds Five
Another emo love song. Seriously, I have no normall happy love songs. But, anyway, this is one of my favorite BFF songs and I can't not sing the chorus. It's beautiful and sad.

"Maxwell's Silver Hammer" - The Beatles
The best Beatles song ever. It's about a serial killer. What more do you need to know? (PS: If anyone has 'Abbey Road', I'd love you forever if you'd hook a sista up, yo.)

"What I'm Looking For" - Brendan Benson
This one just throws me every time. It has such a cheerful beat but such darker lyrics. It's actually kinda hopeful!sad. I love it.

"99 Red Balloon" - Goldfinger
The only cover of that classic I'll listen to. It's the one from that cool McKay/Sheppard/Explosions vid from a while back.

"Only the Good Die Young" - Billy Joel
My theme song. "I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints- the sinners are much more fun."

"Lola" - The Kinks
Mom spent seven years looking for this song. She heard it on the radio and never found out what it was called and who sang it. It's about... actually, no listen. It's good. (Is a .aac file, may not play in some players.)

"You're the Only One" - Maria Mena
The closest I'll ever get to a traditional love-song. *laughs* This lyrics is the essense of true love: "And you stubled around for a good ten minutes and I said I'd never seen anyone look so dumb before, but you laughed and say 'I still know how to turn you one though'." *glee*

"Leaves Do Fall" - The Rosebuds
I'm beginning to doubt this'll ever leave my playlist. *pokes it*

"The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" - Lemonhead
*laughs* This is geeky gold. The worst crossover fic ever.

"Wow" - Snow Patrol
I love this song sooo much. "Say the first thing that comes into your head when you see me. If it looks like it works and it feels like it works, then it works." *twirls*

"Don't Let Me be Misunderstood" - Santa Esmeralda
Ten minutes long, awesome beat, is the Tenth Doctor in a nutshell, and so awesome.

"Bohemian Like You" - Dandy Warhols
For the three of you who don't have this song and haven't played it to death. It never stops bing awesome, does it?

(from here on out, these songs are taken from fanmixes that I will link in case you're interested. I have +20 mixes, so a majority of my playlists are pieced together from them)

"Last Man on the Moon" - SR-71 from the '24 Hours' SGA fanmix
Anyone who knows anything about this fucking awesome band needs to tell me. I can't find them anywhere and I just wanna know what sort of other songs they have or what albums they had or if they were cool- ANYTHING! I love this song so much and can't not rock out to it.

"24" - Jem from the '24 Hours' SGA fanmix
And, god, I maybe only love this song because of the way the mix maker used it. It's John's death during the Seige of Atlantis with Rodney watching him run off to his death. And, god, the cover art just shatters my wee heart. If you need to DL a new fanmix, make it '24 Hours'.

"Everything is Alright" - Motion City Soundtrack from the 'Among the Multitudes: Visions of Rodney McKay' SGA fanmix
Oh, love. I wish I could write Shakesperean sonnets to this song for making me smile every single time I listen. Again, is anyone knows anything about this band, tell me. (Is it a band? *confused*)

"Good Man" - Zed from the 'Among the Multitudes: Visions of Rodney McKay' SGA fanmix
Just an all around good song. And, my god, it's Rodney, word for word.

"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" - The Caesars from the 'Brand New Colony' SGA fanmix
Oh ho, man, this song just feels like a mindfuck. And, in my mind, it's sung by the Reaper himself and that just makes it all the more dark. It's very... seductive, to me. *shivers*

"I Have the Touch" - Peter Gabriel from the 'Bootleg' mix/fic
MY SONG. Mine. *growls at anyone who tries to have it* This just plays to me beautifully. From beginning to end, I'm a part of this song, it can do no wrong, and, speaking as someone a little obsessed with contact, it's artful.

"Anna Begins" - Counting Crows from the 'Chasing Sheppard' fanfic fanmix
Again, all my love songs are weird. But this is beautiful and sad and is all about missing the perfect opportunity for love because "oh lord, I'm not ready for this sort of thing". *sniffle* And I love CC's music for the earnestness in it.

"Given to Fly" - Pearl Jam from the 'theme for great cities' SGA fanmix
This song is just stunningly beautiful. Beautiful. It is art and it's perfect lyrically. It's that voice in everyone that wants to move and go and be more.

"Home" - Simple Minds from the 'theme for great cities' SGA fanmix
Copy and paste the previous description here. Wonderful.

"Volcano" - Damien Rice from the 'Excelsior' SGA fanmix
According to my Winamp player, I've played this 312 times. I haven't had a playlist without this since I heard it. Just... listen, please.

"Time Machine" - Grand Funk Railroad from the 'Jump Into My Time Machine' DW fanmix
Pure fun and innuendo. And so catchy. I had this stuck in my head for a very long time.

"When the World Ends [Oakenfold Remix]" - Dave Matthews Band from the 'Jump Into My Time Machine' DW fanmix
Haunting and cold and love-after-apocalypse. Gave me shivers the first time I heard it two years ago. So glad I found it again.

"Doctor Who Theme [Belgian Jazz Version]" - Bill Bailey from the 'Jump Into My Time Machine' DW fanmix
Okay, I found this guy hilarious with his summary of a DW episode. "SHIT! It's the Daleks! What're we gonna do? Quick, go to the theme tune! Cliffhanger ending!" *dies* I'm such a geek.

"Nos da Cariad" - David Gray from the 'Nos da Cariad' DW fanmix
Best song on a brilliant fanmix. Eerie and creepy and lovely and sounds like a dream.

Maybe You Can Owe Me" - Architecture in Helsinki from the 'simple math' SGA fanmix
Soft, but unrelenting, and is a very maybe!love song.

There. Enjoy! And return the favor: upload a song or two you like and show me?

I bet YSI hates me now.

Great list, I grabbed some!

I'm on a ridiculous number of sharing comms, so I have no idea where most of my new songs come from. You've probably got some of these, but here's the ones I've been listening to the most, recently:

Fatboy Slim--Right Here, Right Now (http://www.sendspace.com/file/9jxckf)
AFI--Miss Murder (http://www.sendspace.com/file/6ixj0u)
30 Seconds to Mars--The Mission (http://www.sendspace.com/file/yss9c2)
The Automatic--By My Side (http://www.sendspace.com/file/kfip1c)

I nicked Pearl Jam and Brendan Benson. I have Abbey Road. I get to it if you don't mind that I can't up it on YSI.

Fine by me! As long as it's not that one that makes you have a membership first.

Finally got around to listening a bit. The Coldplay cover is so wonderful! I really like the vocals in "Watch th Sky". And "Art is Hard" is lyrically awesome. And I should never have left my Julianna Theory on my other computer before it died. T.T Both the Ladytrons are catchy too.

Yep, that sums it up. Thank you for the musaks!

I actually didn't know that "Yellow" was a Coldplay song until last month when I heard it on the radio during tech and asked Garrett what it was...I actually thought it was originally a Mandarin song, because the only version I'd ever heard was the regular-tempo Chinese cover by Zheng Jun. x.x I am so out of it sometimes.

Be careful with the Something Corporate...I love "Watch the Sky," but if you download "Konstantine"...um, ouch. Lyrically gorgeous. Aurally...leaves a bit to be demanded.

PS, most Cursive does tend towards awesomeness. Tim Kasher is my new god. ^_^

I'm one of the lame saps who likes Coldplay. I know it's considered a huge no-no to listen to them, but certain songs of theirs, I can't live without. "Talk", "Speed of Sound", "X & Y". "Clocks" is just so complex and repetitive and is like perpetual motion in a song... And "Amsterdam" is widely acknowledged as their best, but lyrically? "Moses". And no band has a smoother sound.

And now I want my Coldplay so badly and I left it all in Missouri. *whimpers*

I can overlook vocal weakness for lyrical goodness. I like my poetry.

But I'm listening to The Beatles' "Abbey Road" medleys right now, so what do I know?
